Yes, I just wonder if folks here spend too much time debating the pros and cons of two unlikely scenarios.
You carry the way that makes the most sense to you. It’s none of my business.

What are the odds of each of these and how did you arrive at those odds?
That predisposes your mishandling your firearm and not following the safety rules. Yes, humans are fallible, but statistics show that NDs, especially ones that harm are very rare. Looking at the number of firearms and people that own firearms, statistically the odds of an ND are likely far less than being struck by lightening.
I’ve got exactly opposite experience. And that is the reason I don’t like statistics and don’t count on them.
More I handle and play with my handguns, less chance of ND I have. Carrying it doesn’t count because it won’t fire. On the other hand, I had few ND handling firearms I wasn’t comfortable with and handled them for a first or short period of time.
So for me - more practice (simple gripping and working trigger on dry pistol) means better understanding and less surprises.
That’s assuming you have a free hand. Why waste the time and increase the workload?
Is it a Dan Wesson 375 super mag? I never saw one in real life, but always imagined them having great triggers. Who makes factory ammunition for them now? Are you carrying handloads?? Seems like a an unlikely choice for a carry gun.
That’s not my edc. I just love the gun
One in chamber? Simple reply. My answer is yes!
@Ouade5 PERFECT! Kill two birds with one stone!
Looks like those cartridges are pointed the wrong way in the handgun and the magazine underneath!
I dunno, I just googled “double feed” and grabbed a pic.
I can remember the last time I had a double feed. I see it on the range from time to time, though.
Indeed, they are. I recently had a shooter at the range where I work call on the RSO intercom and say his pistol had a double feed malfunction. I went to his lane, and indeed, it was. He had managed to load an entire 12 rnd 9mm magazine with all of the cartridges in backwards (the guy in the photo topped this fete, as he actualy loaded - at least two - magazines backwards!). He also had jammed one round all the way into the chamber…backwards! We are talking all the way in - just like the photo. The “double feed” round was wedged into the chamber opening sideways.
@Christopher_S1 That’s an easy fix. Remove the slide, turn it around and install it still leaving two in the chamber, and as for the mag, just turn around facing forward and slap it back in.
The fastest fix is to just inset the mag into the magwell backwards. You may need to use hammer… but … at least no more double feed.
That’s what happens when you learn to shoot from Nintendo!
This is what fathers are for and Xbox!

I’ll go with:
Carry however you feel confident and comfortable.
I’ll go with this. It’s all about what works for you. I rotate through several pistols for EDC, and with the exception of my 1911, none have a manual safety in the traditional sense. Most have the trigger hinge and some have the additional grip safety. As others have said, at the end of the day, you are the safety. It’s your responsibility to ensure safe operation, transportation, storage, and carry of a firearm. One should not depend on the device for safety. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. As far as carrying with one in the pipe, at the distance most self defense situations occur, I’m not confident in my ability to draw, rack and fire safely in the given timeframe. You may be, and if you are, teach me your ways!! If you wish to carry the firearm with no safety, try carrying it in a holster around the house with a snap cap loaded. Do that until you are comfortable and switch to live rounds and get comfortable. Then go out and about.
I carried my Kimber with a full mag racked with an empty chamber literally for months just to get comfortable that it wouldn’t UD.
