Oh ok i recall Venmo’s being monitored closely now.
I would like to thank everyone for their input. As one person said USCCA needs to rewrite the information on the IL information that they are putting out. They make it sound like you can carry if just passing through. From everyone’s input that’s not true.
The rule is simple:
If you are not Illinois resident you can travel through the Illinois with your valid carry permit, but the firearm cannot leave the car.
So I’d say.. everybody is right - you can travel with firearm… but hopefully you never use it on Illinois soil. ![]()
Please carefully read the document (PDF file) posted earlier by @Ray109
Although, from USCCA’s reciprocity page, it did link me to the IL page which did open up, it reads:
``
(e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident:
(1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a
firearm under federal law;
(2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under
the laws of his or her state or territory of residence, as evidenced by the possession of a concealed carry license or permit issued by his or her state of residence, if applicable; and
" .
I’ll be darned and WTF.
There might be a couple of other threads on this topic. I guess if a non IL resident is going to “carry” while in vehicle, they may need to be careful and diligent when they step out of the car for gas, rest room or to stretch their legs, etc.
But have a safe and peaceful trip.
you won’t miss anything.
