Caught the 300BLK Bug

Made in the USA with a lifetime warranty.

I edited the previous post because I posted a link to an upper with a carbine length gas system initially.

Personally I would only purchase a 300 with a pistol length gas system regardless of barrels length.

Have you made any more progress?

Thanks for asking! Puts this issue back on my radar. I’ve been very busy working to rebuild the bank account, pay off all the medical bills and rebuild all the lost muscle from my untimely (but fortunately brief:) death back at the end of 2022. Most of my none family or work time has been devoted to daily speed walks/hikes or on my weight lifting/Krav Maga sessions. Most of my very limited range time continues to go towards training my new muscles the old memories of how to quickly draw and accurately fire my carry pistol.

My 300blk shot perfectly with the high velocity which is my preferred ammo so working out the subsonic issue has been a low priority. Work should be slowing down a little now. Need to start looking for some less expensive subsonic rounds. Then have to wait for the snow to melt so I can get to the gravel pit, throw in the lighter buffer and see if that solves the problem.

I am thinking of heading down this rabbit hole, so have a couple questions.

Did you get back to the buffer and subsonic ammo experiments? Why did you originally change to a heavier buffer for supersonic? Was it an attempt to reduce recoil, or did it improve cycling?

Have you figured out an economical source of training ammo?

I did go back to the lighter buffer but haven’t gotten around to experimenting with the subsonics yet to see if that solved the issue. Life and other shooting projects keep taking priority. I prefer the supersonic options for around the home defense and they work fine with either buffer. Though there is a little more recoil with the lighter buffer which is why I tried the heavier one in the first place.

Some also recommend the heavier buffer for use with a suppressor because of the increased back pressure. But I haven’t had the time or money to jump down that rabbit hole yet either. Use with a suppressor inside the house would be the only place I would be interested in the subsonic ammo.

AAC ammo from PSA or Ammo Inc options have been about the cheapest I can find for practice. Often in the 60 cent per round range nowadays. Not cheap but not all that much higher than most .223 options these days.
