And what happens if you can successfully shoot the driver of a vehicular attack? I mean, does the vehicle automatically come to a complete stop like in the movies? Or does the foot stay on the gas pedal and the car continue to move forward? Sincere question if anyone knows.

I would suspect that if you shut down their circulatory and/or nervous systems that the most likely outcome would be for the pressure on the gas peddle to cease fairly quickly. But there is no guarantee the vehicle will suddenly veer away from all the innocent people, crash into something and flip over without hitting anyone else as it usually does in the movies.
Still it is likely a better option than letting the driver remain in control so they can target more people. Though that is assuming someone can make the shot with a reasonable chance of success and a minimum chance of hitting innocent bystanders.

I DON’T KNOW. All I can truthfully say if it happens in the movies rest assured it was mostly written by somebody in their Pajama’s safely behind their PC having a cup of Coffee. I’ve seen guy’s (ours’s) shot dead and the Trucks kept going till they crashed into something or ran off the road I saw one guy we shot (theirs’s) and he stopped dead in the road almost instantly. then his car exploded when his grip relaxed on the detonator. (Clint Eastwood had this right in American Sniper/Chris Kyle’s story) But my view was messier, the street wasn’t clear of folk’s.
There’s no telling what can happen.
That’s why we do what we do to make
the best decision we can when SHTF.

At 1:51 in the video the reporter say the cops don’t want people to arms themselves to defend against this. Really the same cops that stopped the chase because it was dangerous to the public. How about this, if you aren’t going to do it let us defend ourselves?
