Sad but too predictable.
Canada, Australia and the like don’t have 1776 in their history books.
Majority of their citizens wake up in the morning thinking,
“Today, I will comply.”

What I hear most from high school and college age kids is that if we hadn’t fought the revolution, the UK would have freed all the slaves. They see independence as a historical evil. That’s what many of them have been taught.

What is the next step for Canadian govt though? Emergency powers declaration cannot last long, and it can be invalidated by the court as not meeting the specific criteria. I think by selecting the highest setting on the govt control dial Trudeau painted himself into a corner.

I believe he is just trying to amp-up the fear, but without realizing these people, already under massive pressure, threat of huge fines, seizure of vehicles, and prison time, are not going to be swayed by more pressure. It is also likely to show the sheep that he is “doing something”.
I was talking to a few Canadians last night online. It was blowing my mind how they were just willing to do whatever their government told them to do, and were angry that these people that were not. They did not believe protesting was the proper means of demanding their freedoms. I did not say anything, just listen - I know difficult to believe, but I knew nothing I said would matter. I was thinking, what do you believe should be done when the government is crushing you. Their answer appeared to be, just submit as the government must know what is right.

“You can fool some of the people all of the time”, what can I say. The good thing, a lot more people are now entering “Wont Get Fooled Again” category. If the society has more than a couple % of those - the trudeaus need not apply any more, nothing he does will be effective.

That was amazing! I was unaware of that ritual. I researched after watching that video. Symbolic, but has a very strong meaning to the native population.
