BREAKING: 9TH CIRCUIT STRIKES DOWN CALIFORNIA’S OPEN CARRY BAN AS UNCONSTITUTIONAL
via @the_bayarea_life
In another blow to Governor Gavin Newsom Attorney General Rob Bonta, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has determined their ban on open carry of guns is unconstitutional.
In Baird v. Bonta, filed January 2, 2026, the court ruled that California’s ban on the open carry of firearms violates the Second Amendment.
The case was brought against Attorney General Rob Bonta.
The opinion was written by Judge Lawrence VanDyke, with a concurrence from Judge Kenneth K. Lee, and a partial concurrence/partial dissent from Judge N.R. Smith.
The most liberal appeals court in the country, the Ninth Circuit, ruled California’s gun laws go too far.
The ruling follows the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision, which established that gun regulations must be consistent with the nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.
California will almost certainly appeal. #california#gunlaws#secondamendment#court#ninthcircuit
‘Normally I’m sittin’ on my porch with my AR15 across my lap and my Claymore switches on the table next to my Ice Tea!’
(It’s such a quiet neighbor till those Somali’s moved into da house over dare!) Sheesh!
ME: Was Food shopping @ albertson’s (Grocery store) just now and I got a ‘Twitchy’ guy ahead of me… 3 six packs of Bud and two btl’s of Chivas—(didn’t look like he could afford anything (smelled too). I motioned the folk’s behind me to step back as Mr. Twitcg gets up to the register, pulls out a .9mm Hi-Point (figures) and demands money— Next thing he hears is me saying ‘Place the gun on the counter and get on yer knees’
He did a slow ‘Wha-’ see’s my M&P and Voids his pants right there! Wphew! WOW Chinese food last night? OMG!
Cops come, I’m talking to the Manager, 3 kids have him on the ground, One idiot Cop said ‘Didja have to pull yer piece?’ I told Barney that ‘I could have let him shoot ‘Charlie’ but I kinda like Charlie’….
Where oh where do they find these folk’s? But I have to say I’m glad some Social Justice Warriors weren’t sent to an attempted Armed Robbery—that would have been just too much—I’d be eyeing the Chivas if that happened! Never a dull moment in Cactus Junction (Now West Texas y’all!)
Brother, great work! Seriously, you need a better neighborhood, but also seriously, thanks for the “clean up at register four” though a different clean up is needed now
Brother, The neighborhood is FINE!, Really good, relatively SAFE (if anywhere is these days). but we (like everywhere else ) get the bleed over from the city. Albuquerque sucks!, Fentanyl has wreaked HAVOC over the users, and the beggar’s Median sign holders, and walking Dead have made the trek where the money is. Simple economics, when an area like downtown Abq dies you can’t beg blood from a corpse. So, they’ve crossed the Rio Grande and set up shop in my area now. Not much Policing going on so they have no worries (It’s only Jan 4th and we have 2 Homicides, a multi vehicle fatalities, this joint is hopping right outta the gate!)
I feel safe (but I’m grateful I’m armed! —glad I didn’t need to be involved in Register4 clean-up! Man! that was NASTY!
