I have crystal clear memories of choosing where to go to school and how much I was willing to pay. I also remember paying back every penny myself so that I could get on with my life. Now they want me to pay for others’ education too? No wonder people like to be paid in cash.

I’ve known people who got loans to buy cars they couldn’t afford when they defaulted on their loans, the bank repossessed the car. Since an alleged “education”, as dispensed by today’s universities is ephemeral and not subject to repossession, I submit that, for anyone accepting this “forgiveness”, the recipients be lobotomized to reflect the degree of intelligence they displayed when they signed their original loan agreement.

Also, anyone who accepts this loan forgiveness BS should, at the least, have the full amount forgiven taxed as income.

Issuing diplomas for Easy A classes that prevent the recipients from finding gainful employment.

It’s a nice way of saying “Public Assistance,” for college graduates.

This just boiled my blood. We (the US taxpayers) just gave this lady a quarter million dollars so she can build a brand new house. I’m sorry for her that she made bad financial decisions and couldn’t own a house. Millions and millions of Americans will never be able to own a house. I’ve made some bad financial decisions too, but no one ever bailed me out! Three degrees, and a quarter million in debt? What was she thinking? Well, now she has a nice brand new house, thanks to the US taxpayer and a criminal president openly defying SCOTUS, while good people I know, who never went into debt and work their asses off, can barely afford their apartments.

So, what happens when those in office openly defy Supreme Court rulings?

Zilch, zero, nada, nothing, except their base who think the US sucks rally around them and vote for them again, calling them heros for “standing up to the court.”

There is actually some strong religious and economic precedents to the concept of debt jubilees. But they are supposed to apply to the masses and not just bail out rich bankers and the over educated while saddling everyone who does actual work for a living with the debts those people didn’t want to pay off.

Once again, the Pee-resident succeeds in souring the people against one another, forcing them into different boxes.

Divide and conquer lives.

So true. When we finally left the university with a couple graduate degrees, my wife and I had 6-figure loans to repay. We did over several years. Every penny. The education I got was absolutely worth it as it freed me from being a wage slave somewhere and made it possible to retire while I was still young enough to enjoy it.

My educational choices were my investment in my future, and the price of that investment (school loans) was my responsibility to repay.

Now, in an effort to pander to voters, the Biden administration is forgiving loans. Those of us who repaid our student loans are just out of luck. To make it worse, the government is essentially forgiving loans with printed money, which devalues everyone’s wealth through inflation.
