I am sure the native americans would say the same thing about the Pilgrims … They were nice until there numbers grew then they wipe us almost out … This is my point. Maybe we are a bit sanctimonious on the position … Said the same thing about every other group that has come here that i named early…

Sure i think i remember something about kids shooting up schools hhmmm wonder who has been the only group to do that … We can always find things to fit whatever we want to hate and subjugate … I am in no way say that there are not bad actors … to use a Bible passage you seem to forgot …

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” It sure goes both ways … I deal with people not a race or a religion …

The point is this is suppose to be a melting pot …

When I was growing up in Hawaii this is what we were taught. “Hawaii is the melting pot of the Pacific”. I went away to college. When I returned Hawaii had changed completely. The empire of Japan had taken over. Bilingual signs were every where. The Native Hawaiian people were systematically eliminated through in-breeding and financial exploitation of their own lands. My family almost lost everything. Were it not for our family pulling together we would never have survived. We are now in the 21st century and instead of the government decimating the islands, it is now Oprah and the billionaire contingent that is literally burning down the land. F your 15 minute cities. We’ll fight to our last breath.

I grew up on a farm… I wasn’t even in the same county as rich people … I know what actual dirt poor means… But i worked hard and educated myself and got out …

Argue. Seriously ? So you are unable to have a discussion, an exchange of ideas . Without feeling threatened in doing so . Then resorting to name calling “a-holes” … I understand your need for a gun if you are fragile…

But…when in Rome also applies, no? My grandfather came here and worked to bring in his whole family. Had to work. Had to learn the language, find a place to live, to eat, etc. THAT isn’t what’s happening today. One doesn’t have to give up their past, but if they WANt the past, they should stay where they are.

Wow i am sorry to hear that … It is sad the way the rich are treating the people who are natives there … they still have not helped the people who got displaces by the storm and now they are putting up hotels on there land … This is where fairness and rule of law not money should be dispensed fairly and equitably…

I so agree you know what is different here from most other countries… Say Britain if you were talking to an individual from there on the phone. You would not know their ethnicity. They speak regionally. Here they in some cases make up their own identity and language .

Friends of mine that come from other countries laugh and say hell we don’t do that anymore but here it is there identity … Rest of the world is progressing and we want to stay trapped in the way it was … But hey it does make for some cute towns …

Isn’t Mark Zuckerberg trying to buy up one of the islands and pulling some shady ■■■■ to do it also ?

Yeah what happened to him should never have taken place … I remember that story . Same with Salman Rushdie or Jamal Khashoggi … Speaking to power in other parts of the world … Will end your life or leave you maimed … One of the things that is wonderful about this country … Sadly, I am not sure for how long with the way people are turning so tribal… No longer using Critical Thinking … They choose to be spoon feed by the tribe … Subscribing to clickbait .

Technically, the Natives laughed at the Europeans for having the ludicrous idea that anyone could OWN land, let alone buy or sell it. They thought they were pulling a fast one on the white-eyes.

Well, not the ONLY group, but I remember reading the single most common demographic for mass shooters is environmental extremism. More generally theses shooters fall on the far left of the political spectrum.

 As an AMERICAN CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT, law abiding citizens (solely reason) carry “FIREARMS” for “SELF DEFENSE” of self or others, and to be used only as a last resort to “STOP A THREAT” of great bodily harm and/or death.

Good topic for another topic.
I think @William191 ‘s topic is a good topic and we are having a good discussion.

NO, not at all. Recall American history? There are numerous accounts of how the natives attacked the Europeans on first contact. Many were not “friendly”. However, they used the Europeans just as much as the Europeans used them - ally with one another for their own purposes.

Kids shooting up schools? Were those Islamic terrrorists? You are being an a–.

And when one group does not melt and believes you need to bend to their will?

Not with the Muslims it does not.

Many of us here were poor, worked hard and got educated. You are not special in that regard. You are special in your condescension of the rest here that do not hold your politcal views.

You clearly do not know your audience here on this site.

BTW, Charlie Hebdo is not a he. It was a business that was attacked and many were killed.

French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo has republished cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that made them the target of a deadly terror attack in 2015.

Republication comes a day before 14 people go on trial accused of helping the two Islamist attackers carry out their gun rampage on 7 January 2015.

Twelve people were killed, including famous cartoonists. Five people died in a related attack in Paris days later.

The attacks began a wave of jihadist strikes across France.
Not Muslim, maybe moslems or islameists. Just trying to keep the topic alive.
