I ran across an advertisement for a bore site tool, so i decided to Google it.
I came up with a couple “best of review sites” and i then checked out their top two on each.
Turns out they’re being sold on Amazon so i checked the reviews.
Both the 5 star, and several 1 star reviews.
Needless to say, while there were a lot more 5 star reviews, the one star reviews captured my attention.
I would use our mail box post in the front. It gave me verticle and horizontal points for my crosshairs. Figure i would try the lasers, and both styles work. I bought the lasers cuz im been playing with the AR platform more. Bolt guns, i agree, pull the bolt and find a good object and adjust
I also use the cartridge type … A guy I know, used the one you put in the end of the barrel. Finally got his gun sighted. He said he got excited and wanted to shoot it. Forgot it was in the end and blew his gun up… He was so lucky he or anyone else was not hurt …
Hello, I use a magnetic one i don’t remember the name mine has a high power green laser on it and you just put it on the end of the barrel turn it on put the green dot down range and adjust your sights to that dot, i bought mine on Amazon for less than $50.00 and it works great
I’m “going out on a limb here”, and will share an “off the wall” opposing view, as an amateur. I tried a bore sight laser device and even an at the home method of a string tied above, held down by a weight for gravity, viewed through the long gun scope.
However, neither ever came close to my just practicing and sighting in a scope at the range by adjusting, up, down, left, right - using live fire.
I was embarrassed that I was looking through the scope with my eye glasses on, but it wasn’t until I finally took my glasses off and let the scope do all the work, I zero’d in much more easily.
Now if I can only master how to best use my dominant eye.
I’ve had the ones that are like the caseing and they have the light in them and I have the stick that you put in the muzzle that’s never been out of the box and I see stuff and buy it butt can’t hardly get around to doing anything with the crap
I can’t speak to those particular brands on Amazon but I have a very similarly designed bore sighter that I bought probably over 15 years ago and still use to this day. Mine only has 4 or 5 adapters that each can be adjusted to fit a range of calibers.
Mine is definitely not perfectly accurate but it usually gets me within a couple inches at 25 yards and always at least gets me on the target so I can fine tune from there.
