Here’s another thread with a lot of opinions and advice. Think carefully on when/where you may want to use it. Is it for going to Walmart? Attending a riot (#ProTip, don’t do that)? In case of SHTF or TEOTWAWKI? Or for home-defense? The answers to those questions will determine what level of armor and how to carry it.

My wife looked at me puzzled as I brought my package from AR500 in the house. I ordered it in March and received it in late May I believe. It is the level III+ and I like it.

As with most things in the gun world, opinions vary based on who you talk or listen to. I’ve heard AR500 products both lauded & trashed. My brother thinks we should test it ourselves to which I would gladly do if he agrees to replace it!

I’ll be honest… I hope I never have to wear the thing. I walk around with it, do pushups in it, and just try to keep myself familiar with the weight. But, full disclosure… I bought it to thumb my nose at Chuck Schumer & other anti-gun politicians who tried to pass a bill to ban & outlaw body armor ownership by the PEOPLE.

The article attached below mentions one way to save on costs, via buying body armor in portions, such as the outer vest first, one which has those large pockets for plate insertions, but both front and rear, then the various plates, such as front and rear.

However, I noticed that other armor offer more of a full torso wrap around feature for added protection, and some are softer, more comfortable. I noticed at least one company offers a payment plan, where they can ship you the complete body-armor once the first payment is made, then you can make the remaining payments spread out over time.

Ouch it is. But I commend them for eating their own dog food.
I also would like to add, that a .22 despite its minute appearance compared to 9mm, sometimes can penetrate stuff better, exactly due to its small diameter. With .22s being so widespread, I’d like to see results from that test, before I call this jacket a good investment.
