Big beautiful bill has suppressors of the NFA

BBBA has the hearing proctection act in it, and it passed the House! We’re not out of the woods yet because it still has to get past the Senate but this is great news!

Happy for suppressors, but my hearing is asking “What? What did he say?”
Hopefully the prices will fall somewhat if more sales happen.

If it passes the Senate you already get a 200 buck reduction in price.

And an off the shelf buying experience. Put your money down, walk out with your accessory!

What I’m excited for is the $1k a month raise in my net income! (No tax on OT)

I am looking forward to this happening, as I do want to get suppressors for my hunting rifles. A fully disabled veteran on a fixed income, kind of hard to get things sometimes, lol.

WIth greed, I can see some shops keeping the prices as is, and collecting that money for themselves.

I hope it works but i thought i read somewhere that getting suppressors off the NFA couldnt be done on this bill in the senate due to its going through reconciliation rules. That can only be used for budget items.

They can remove the $200 tax but not the suppressors themselves.

Any insight?

Correct, it is the $200 tax that is being removed.

Ref: pg 1040, line 11-25

It is also worth mentioning that nothing has been passed (not yet law/official) and will undergo changes while in the Senate. If it is voted up by the Senate, it’s still not done.

If the Senate passes it, it may go to the President for signing. It is also possible that if significant changes were made by the Senate, a bicam (bicameral conference committee (committee of people from both houses )) will attempt to reconcile the 2 drafts. If successful, off to the President. If unsuccessful, each house re-review and mark-up, blah blah blah, then vote again. Wash, rinse, repeat until it is either passed or dies.

It is a step in the right direction. IMHO, the NFA should be abolished completely.

I have already written and called both of my senators, urging them to support hearing protection in the Senate version of the Bill. I urge you all to do the same.

I agree its a start.

The tax ban may pass but unfortunately suppressors will still be under the NFA.

Since quite a few states allow suppressors for hunting (hell, even liberal MI allows it) wish it would come up separately and have our elected officials actually do the will of the people and not their own feelings or lobbyists

Lets see…forced reset triggers won in court, bump stocks won, time for suppressors.

I still dont see how accessories fall under a 100 year old NFA.

I have no interest in a FRT or bumpstock but for those that want them…cool. i wont try and stop you.

Gun owners need to stick together whether its in your wheel house or not. Big brother has to be stopped picking away the 2nd 1 piece at a time

You will only need a form 4773 going forward on this…
