ATF Expands List of State Gun Permits That Bypass NICS Checks

They should add NM. I’m tired of being able to bypass our mandatory waiting period but still having to sit around for a background check that regularly comes back as “proceed”.

Same here in Florida. I should be able to show my card and be done. In fact, as long as a state CCP includes fingerprinting and background check, which I believe they all do, it should be nationwide.

The big problem with “sitting around” waiting for the all clear is how much more money I end up spending

That’s what I was thinking. Pretty sure my CCW background check was more comprehensive than a Brady check.

And that’s not including what I went through to get my law license.

A few years ago the background check was my ccw # but not any more hear in Ar

Better than Colorado, yeah, my NCIS comes back as approved in under an hour, but regardless of my CHP I still have to wait three days.

And when our new law kicks in next year my CHP doesn’t even qualify me to purchase any semiautomatic weapons over .22LR, nope that’s a SECOND special permission slip I will need just to BUY a new gun!:ox::poop:

Well that’s some definite :ox::poop:

I was super happy when I found out that having our CCW exempts you from our waiting period.

I still think the waiting period is dumb in general, but even more so for people who already own guns. What good is a “cool off” period when I can just go home and get a gun I already own?

More over, I’m standing at the counter filling out my 4473 with a loaded pistol on my hip!!!

Yeah, if I needed a cool down period, the crime would already be over and I’d be “cooling down” in jail!

Yes. Just did this yesterday. Filling out the 4473 with my EDC in my AIWB holster and a spare mag on the other side.

What did you buy?

Nothing exciting. FedEx just finally got around to delivering my plinker.

I bought a TX22 because I’ve been wanting a 22lr pistol and I found a deal I couldn’t pass up.

.22s are some of my favorite guns. Super fun, quiet, and you can shoot all day without breaking the bank. Enjoy it.

Thanks.

Yeah, being able to pick up a box of 500 for $35 is what ultimately sold me on the idea. Well, that and the 3 free magazines and free green dot.

Last week, I was asked for a “Firearm Safety Certificate” (FSC) before starting 4473.
Handing my CCW permit made the guy behind the counter noticeably relax
