I lived in Chicago until I was 10 and in the suburbs until the day after I graduated high school.
I wouldn’t live in such a neighborhood where this incident took place. I open my garage door as I turn into my driveway, which is so well illuminated that my neighbors across the street don’t need an outside light. On my street any threat would be seen well beyond pistol range.
In my neighborhood, everyone parks on their own property, so anyone shining a flashlight into a car parked outside will get a 911 call if he is not immediately recognized.
In Florida, the only retreating we have to do is retreating to the gun safe for more firepower.
I agree totally, but my comments were directed concerning the individual who shot someone when he could have done any number of things other than shooting and killing a non violent thief, now he’s faced with a number of possible charges when it he had been thinking correctly,he would not be living such a nightmare right now. I am sure if one could ask him he would wished he had responded differently!!! When a topic concerning police shootings arise,I will just as vigorously comment on that as well(providing I have something to comment).I just say…be safe, stay calm and think before pulling that trigger!!!
In the issue of self defense in Wa. there was never the thought of fire or not fire,it was a case after my third of saying STOP and me raising my weapon and lighting him up with the lazer between the eyes,it was no question as to what i would do if he took another step toward me, apparently he knew that I was serious and turned away and got in his car at which time I holstered my weapon as he drove off
It should always be a question of fire or not to fire your weapon especially if you’re firing with intent to kill…I’m hearing from alot of you guys who seemingly can’t wait to be in a situation where they can pull the trigger.it appears to me to be no different from the guy who has had a drink and now thinks he can fight anybody! I pray I never have to draw my weapon other than for training.but I see some of us are gun ho for some action…and we wonder why some want to take our right away from us!!!
