Are you tested? Are you true?

The Dirty Harry movie had a saying that really says a lot.
A man has to know his limits! If you have to run a 10 second 100 yard dash to live, are you going to try? What you have for self defense, is it what you need to survive?
I watched this video and I just wanted to share it.

Do you feel as though you are ready, really ready?

YES I do…

Good video.
It actually explains exactly how do I feel about talking about firearms, carrying firearm and using firearms (for living, fun and pleasure)

If I’m not I’ve made a Herculean effort and spent a crap load of money trying to get there.

I feel confident. When i lived in AK and went hunting for a week or 2 remotely, i knew what i had is what i had. First responders could take days, if i could even get ahold of anyone.

Learned alot on tactics from the Marine Corps. Still practice some. Some things i cant, cops would probably get pissed if i builta kill house to practice dynamic entries and room clearing skills.

Not perfect but hopefully could survive

Live fire shoot houses are a ton of fun and a ton of stress. Both are important.

They are fun but in reality, its a situation you never want to do in real life. Im sure alot here can attest to that.

It is one more tool in box that you have some knowledge on though

I drove from Washington to Arizona to take a gun class on my birthday. We did a lot of driving and seeing the sights. When I got to the class I had malfunctions off the bat. I had to wipe all my magazines inside = out the give my gun a expedited wiping to get into the class.

This was an eye opener because if I ever needed my gun in an emergency I would have been screwed.

The devil is in the details when it comes to being vented. It will always be the, “little things,” that bites you in the a$$. I like how this video covers the details.

Hopefully im able to just use my gun on hand, getting to broken and old for that hand to hand crap

Exactly. That’s why I don’t bother to carry a tactical knife. Just a small practical one for daily box opening and string cutting. I have also never taken a knife defense class.

I like how they break it down into just a handful of the same moves to defend/attack. The groin strikes on defense of a strangle I had not read/seen before, but make sense, likely far better than other techniques. I hopefully will never need to execute. These are the types of moves needed in self-defense, destroy the assailant as quickly as possible. I was only going to skim through it, but ended up reading the entire manual - a bit more time than I had intended, but worth it.

I’ve taken a metric load of self defense knife classes. I say that to say, your results with 0 knife training, and mine with lots of training are going to be fairly close to the same. My only advantage and it’s not so much an advantage, it has 0 to do with training, it comes from having been cut/stabbed before. So, I won’t freak out about the flap of skin that is most likely dangling there.

The one and only time I’m going for a knife, is if they are so close that I don’t think I can keep control of my firearm, then I am grabbing a knife so I can hopefully make the attacker back off enough so I can get to my firearm.

You know what the winner and loser of a knife fight have in common? They are both at the same ER after the fight. If they survived.:joy:

That’s an interesting philosophy. Thanks for your reply
