I own both .300 blackout and a 5.56 and it really depends on what you are planning to use the rifle for. If you are just looking to push a lot of lead down range then the 5.56 is the more economical option. The .300 blackout ammo is going to bite into your bank account. However if you are looking to use subsonic ammo with a suppressor on targets under 200 yards then that is where the .300 shines. My .300 is primarily used as my varmint rifle while the 5.56 is my WTSHTF rifle.
