Anyone own a Ruger American Gen II Predator 6.5 Creedmoor?

Was looking at the rifle for a budget long distance setup. I own a Ruger American Gen II .308 and a Ruger American Gen II Ranch .300 Blackout and I absolutely love both rifles and was thinking of getting the Predator but have not been able to find any decent reviews on the rifle. For the price at $599 MSRP if it functions as well as the .308 or Ranch .300 Blackout I would call it a steal, but the fact that there are no videos on the Gen II model or reviews has me feeling a little leery.

I have a Ruger Precision in 6.5 Creedmore and am impressed with it’s accuracy. However, I don’t think it’s what most people consider a ‘budget’ rifle. What I am getting to is the 6.5 round is good but in my experience for target work with the 6.5 use a heavier bullet (140 gr.), faster twist (Ruger Precision is 1 in 8") and work at higher velocities if you reload. I’ve tried some lighter loads and for me they spread out significantly even as close as 200 yards. I also have an old 6.5 Swedish carbine with the same twist originally designed for a 150 gr. and it is a tack driver.

could this be a barrel length issue?

IIRC the old swed rifles have a fairly long barrel?

Actually the carbines were short but the fast twist and the heavy bullet are what made it work. At 100 yards I get overlapping holes. My brother had both versions and while accuracy seemed equal, his opinion was the carbine (designed for soldiers on skis) was better simply because it was easier to carry. We ran some 80 gr. hollow points through it way back when and at 100 yards the target spread was over 18", totally unacceptable. The light bullet would spin too fast and start to tumble. Holes in the paper were oblong in most cases. Just as a side point the original ammo the Swedes made was nickle plated.

heavy bullets huh? hmmm… thanks for the info

Heavy bullets has anyone checked out the 8.6 blackout round at 1-3 or 1-4 rate of twist?

seems of interest…
