America 250 celebrations

I got to work a small tall ship in my 40s. ($25 for a couple hour sail). We helped raise the square sails, shift the jibs, and I got to climb the mast about 2/3 of the way up. It was a blast. The seas were not flat, with a storm heading in late that night. Forward motion was about 6 feet and the side motion about 10 feet, so it was a wavy climb and descent. This happened in Oceanside, CA on the Pilgrim in the late '80s. FUN!

However fun it might be, I never go to patriotic events now that thousands of furriner “cells” have infiltrated our country. Those are targeted heavier than anything else today, as Charlie and Trump’s ear can attest. I sure celebrate them from afar, though, ducking and covering at my house on the 4th. I collected a spent bullet from my gutter in Cali once, surprised that there was only one after the number of mag dumps that happened that night in my sleepy little town.

I would rather drive my favorite dirt roads around here, lots of green green green trees & an occasional house that’s been left on its own for years & tears!

In our great American little town, working class folks enjoy Independence Day celebrations on Main Street in the morning, then a concert and fireworks at night. Furriners are easy to spot but I’m not letting my guard down.

…but before July 4, we get to celebrate President Trump’s 80th birthday :tada:

I’m hoping it’s a safe day.

I want to know what genius scheduled game 6 of the Stanley cup final at the same time as the UFC fight at the white house.

I would watch the fights but I am not subscribing to Paramount+

Warm-up… today, it’s Diamond Dave.

Tomorrow, it’s the Red Rocker Sammy Hagar :guitar: at the 250th.

I like Roth’s first album after he left Van Halen, but that was awful. I was a Van Halen fan until Roth left, and hated Hagar’s album before he joined Van Halen.

Roth assembled some of the best crew for his debut solo album.

As for VH, I’m with Alex…

Alex Van Halen considers the years the band spent with original frontman David Lee Roth—specifically from their formation through 1984—to be the best era of Van Halen.

He argues this era captured the truest spirit, creative heat, and raw energy of the band. In his memoir, Brothers, Alex explains that while the later years with Sammy Hagarproduced successful music, the initial incarnation was the true driving force. He also stated that true rock-and-roll essentially ended for him around 1984.

Never was a big Van Haggar fan. The DLR Van Halen was better, IMO.

Good turnout for the 5k run. Looks like I won’t finish last with lots of “walkers.” And we’re about to start our Independence Day event! :united_states:
