Alex Garland's: CIVIL WAR Review

In the near-future, a civil war has engulfed the United States. An authoritarian federal government, led by a third-term president, is embattled by secessionist movements. Despite the president claiming victory is imminent, it is widely expected that Washington, D.C. will soon be reached by the “Western Forces” (WF) led by Texas and California. After surviving a suicide bombing in New York City, jaded veteran war photographer Lee Smith and journalist colleague Joel meet with their mentor Sammy to share their plan to interview the isolated president. While trying to dissuade them from heading to the capital, Sammy joins them to reach the frontline at Charlottesville, Virginia. The next morning, Lee finds Joel has allowed a young aspiring photojournalist whom Lee encountered at the bombing, Jessie Cullen, to join them…(NO SPOILERS HERE)

Please watch this film.
My Review:
Kirsten Dunst and Wagner Moura are Lee and Joel
Stephen McKinley Henderson and Cailee Spaeny are Sammy and Jessie
These (4) people make this film. BUT the others in the cast are also perfect.
Like: Jesse Plemons, Dunst’s real-life husband, makes an uncredited appearance as a racist[9] ultranationalist militant who holds the journalists at gunpoint. HE’S TERRIFYING! (in a good way!) He’s calm in his madness, only in the film for about (10) minutes but Holy Sh!t! Powerful. (The dude in Camo’s and Red Glasses. 10 minutes tops and he rules the screen! Wagner Moura revealed he cried
for a half hour after filming that scene… It was great film making. I LOVE MOVIES,
I use to love actors and spent a good deal of my life protecting them, now they are the Dinero’s and Baldwins and it almost threw me off watching movies.
This Film, The Hatfields & McCoys (Costner/ Paxton, Sicario 1&2 brought me back!.
I didn’t think I’d like this movie, waited as long as I could to watch it because reviews made it sound kind of Liberal/Progressive and with it being Hollywood I thought it was going to be really bad. Man, was I wrong.
This is what I pictured a ‘Civil War’ in this country to be like. Without spoiling it (too much) Some parts of the Country INVOLVED, Some parts staying out of it. If you’ve read my posts you know how I feel with what’s going on here in our great Country today. This is a satisfying movie. It’s how it should be if we were going to have a second REVOLUTION I would hope it would happen this way.
Spoiler alert: THERE ARE NO Migrant Invasion/Fights whatsoever. I don’t know how you can make a current depiction of events and NOT have that included? but other than that omission it was a Fort Sumpter style series of events and from there you will have to view it and make a judgement for yourselves.
I liked this film, you may or may not. But it’s worth watching. Sad, Hopeful, Action, Thought provoking (5 Stars).
Quicky reviews:
Hatfield and McCoy: History Channel Mini Series 5 stars
Sicario 1&2 5 stars
The Outpost w/ Scott Eastwood 5 stars (Afgana-stain)
Guy Ritchies: The Covenant: Jake Gyllenhaal/ Dar Salim 5 stars
Equalizer3: Denzel Washington @ his best! 5 stars
‘They Live’ Roddy Piper, Keith David 5 stars

( For escapism there aren’t many better)

This :point_up_2:t4: thanks for the review. I’ll check it out.

As for Guy Ritchie’s film starring Gyllenhaal, I still couldn’t get past his role in Brokeback Mountain which I’m also not watching until someone I trust gives a good review.

NYET on ‘Brokebutt Mountain’
I will never EVER watch that
Not the kind of images I want stuck in my head
no matter how much I liked Heath (Joker, The Patriot) RIP
and Gyllenhaal: Jarhead, Zodiac)
But Bean, The Covenant is worth the watch (BUY IT!)
'For GOD and COUNTRY ’ Brother! It’s the goods!

EDIT: Sorry Bruh:
Quick Mini-Review
No Spoiler
Warriors needed a ‘Translator’ to be effective in country
Dar Salim was the US Forces Translator.
A bond develops between Sgt. Kinney and ‘Ahmed’ (Dar).
Action happens, WAR happens They become Brothers.
Not one thing sucks about this Film 5 stars

Yup, but understand there are (2) films The Covenant
Buy the Guy Ritchie’s: ‘The Covenant’ starring Jake and Dar
I know that may be over explaining but Amazon.com you have a choice between the two.

Bean Counter: The two movies may sound similar in that respect but totally different.
‘Ahmed’ is a Warrior compared to ‘Amahl’ …hmmmm Amahl, Ahmed, Potato, Potatoe
