Exactly, that is why I don’t want to be legally required to give LEO my name or ID.

Ya, you are missing the point. It is about our rights. The 4th amendment is just as important as the 2nd. There are an increasing number of bad and out of control police officers on the streets and VERY little oversight or consequence for them. I have several LEO friends and several that have left LE because they can’t stand what is happening to “justice” in modern policing. Bottom line is the police tell you it is your right to remain silent (as does the USCCA in a self defence situation). “ANYTHING CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU.” It is their training to find something, not true LE, but you continue in your own world, that’s cool. Back the blue UNTIL it happens to YOU.
Always remember, if we always just followed authority at the expense of our rights, there would not be a U.S.A. or Texas. Rights are like muscles, exercise and keep strong.

This is not aimed at anyone, it is just my personal position.
It’s very admirable that many of you feel so confident and comfortable with Law Enforcement. I however am not so sanguine, as I have had to much experience with the world and people abusing positions of power.
I prefer for my .gov interactions be defined by the Constitutional restrictions guaranteed by the Constitution. I do not suffer transgressions against the dignity of my family or my own self lightly. I will, and do, respect Law Enforcement, and will cooperate with them, within reason. But it will be within the guardrails provided by the Constitution. Otherwise, I have 0 problem buying some lawyer a new boat to handle any interactions outside of the Constitutional protection guaranteed to me as a free citizen of this Country I love.

I get it, and I am glad your life is so simple. Most of us live in a world where LEO handcuff people in their squad car parked on a railroad track with a train coming (yes happened right here in Texas). I can list a ton of examples and many of them where the officer faced no punishment or was fired and allow to go work for another department. There are plenty of reasons not to trust law enforcement, the main one being that they are paid with our tax money, but the people have little to no oversight over them. They don’t actually know the law, most of academy is not about the actual law. Heck they don’t even know the Constitution they swear an oath to uphold. Please, go ask one of your good ol’ boy sheriffs to name the 5 points of the 1st amendment. The very first one in the bill of rights that they swore to uphold. I am not trying to be mean, I am truly glad your life is so simple and you feel that comfort with your local LEO, but if you don’t stand for right you don’t care about or use, you will find that one day it will be too late to fight for the rights you do care about. ID to some cops is like Crack to Hunter Biden, they don’t know your name, they don’t even have a crime they suspect of you, they simple think you look suspicious or even using speech they don’t like. They will demand ID, even though in Texas, you don’t have to provide ID unless you have been lawfully arrested for a crime.
As for Abbott and the pardon, yes that was great, even though Tx Gov does not have authority to grant pardon by himself, it requires a board, Abbott did still sign it, kudos. Texas is by far the best state and I am not leaving it, that doesn’t mean we can’t make it better and more free. That doesn’t mean they have not made a mistake requiring LTC holders to show ID when simply asked, when non LTC do not have to show ID. That is the point here. We should be secure in our documents, if there is a problem with LEO or not. Absent of the suspicion of a crime, we should not be required by law to present ID, period. You want to volunteer, go for it, but we should not be required by law.

Red beard That’s why I never got a license I never needed one and now look at all the problems with it and the people that don’t have one . Are better off for now. If you ever work under cover and the bad guys see you have a license .!! That would mean that you’re not a bad guy . And then you will be standing in crap 
. KAZ bad guys can look up everything just like the law you been talking about them bad cops. I understand brother . Before this is over . We are all going to have to have so many papers we better buy a suit case. The SS. GASTOPO.

There are still more restrictions on Constitutional Carry in Texas than LTC. There is still a reason to get one, but to have one should not mean surrendering 4th amendment rights. Have a good one, stay free.

Red beard with all of the restrictions still coming citizens are going to have to be in law enforcement to even own a firearm. This is terrible. And getting worse brother . The cartels are here and they have weapons and they don’t care about law and order . Or love of this country . Just how many permits are we going to have to have . I have 3 drivers licenses. Four if you count forklift license. Responsible should be what matters!! And training . Not more Laws . We have more than enough LAW LOVE Bobby Jean and Debbie ann.

I feel for you guys sometimes. Where I live our State 2A group stopped a bill in the State House about having to ID if you had a CCL. It didn’t make sense to me that because I avail myself of a right guaranteed by the Constitution and CC, I have to identify myself to Law Enforcement. Fortunately we defeated that bill. I still think my State has the best firearms environment.
