Thanks for the advice, Don. What you suggested I post, would I post that at the USCCA’s Facebook page?
I just visited your web site. It sounds like you have a nice place for people to hunt. I noticed in one of the captions you have overnight cabins. Where can I find out more about that? My wife and I are always looking for somewhere nice to get away for a weekend. We live in north east Texas.

Ray10:
I’m really enjoying this conversation. We are USCCA members. How do we find out the names of other USCCA members (and contact info) that live within 100 miles of us, as was suggested in the string?
I look at peoples profiles after I like where their going in conversations. Many of them have their location, city/state. If they don’t I PM them and strike up a conversation and find out.
For example I’m in the central part of the Republic of Texas. ![]()
I would start a new topic in Regional Conversations in the region you live in.
For example; I live in Wisconsin so if I were doing it I would start a new thread (topic) under Regional Conversations Central - North
Perhaps with a title like “looking to met other local members” or something like that.
At least I would think that would give you the best chance of getting replies from people in your area.
Great idea @DBrogue !
Every once in a while I accidently stumble across my own feet and it comes out looking like I am smart (dont believe it I just get lucky).
Don
I really appreciate the coaching, Don.
Just trying to help out where I can
We have spent a lot of effort on staying in place. I can better defend my place than I could anywhere else. We did leave the city, and feel sorry for those that can not.
The idea of a group is great but choose wisely. This COVID thing has cause a lot of people to show fear and fear causes people to do strange things. For example: we know a prepper that got so fearful over this virus, they conformed to the BS being pushed on the media. I think if the government wanted names of non-compliment people they would comply and turn us in thinking she was doing good. There are a lot of people/friends that we will nolonger let know we prep or how we handle things that come up because of the fear they showed.
Being able to deal with medical issues like viruses without entering fear mode is required as a prepper. History shows that a virus of this type comes every 7 to 10 years, so we must know how to deal with it ourselves.
Depends.
Floods and fires, you got to go,
Go where? To family or friends out of town, maybe camp out or seek other shelter.
Civil unrest— stand your ground unless someone tries to burn you out.
My 2 cents and actually worth less than that
Not a “prepper” per se but we’ve always kept a good supply of food staples in stock, as well as other items that could fall under the category of prepping supplies. We cruised through the Two week long aftermath of a major ice storm without needing outside help or supplies; even helped out a couple of other folks.
Surviving the apocalypse and it’s immediate aftermath is one thing, and anyone with a lick of sense and a bit of imagination can prepare for it. After that, gathering a community and fighting it out to begin building a new society, well, that’s a younger persons game. Makes me tired just thinking about it. I’ll stay in place, survive as best I can, and accept the inevitable.
I don’t have anywhere to bug out to.
When everything hits the fan, my main mission is to get myself and my family home. If we have to evacuate, I don’t have any idea where we’d go. Something that bad is likely to be widespread enough to upset the best laid plans of mice and men.
