Aside from common sense.
I’m curious if there are any studies or videos demonstrating hallow points Vs. full metal jacket (ball) ammunition, in comparing damage or side effects from ricochets.

Taking into account down stream effects, taking some responsibility. To me, seems if one is going to target practice, makes sense one has to first put in the work of safety and leaving less garbage behind.
I can see how professional range stores have to charge a fee, as they help ensure reduction of ricochets and of clean up.
I sometimes wonder what happens after affects of lead, when we practice out in the prairies, outdoors, or when I see a video of someone shooting into water, like a river, just to see a splash.
Are prices for non lead ammunition for practice, the same or cost more?
years ago wen bowling pins were the hottest and latest fad I got hit with a 45Acp ball round . It knocked me down flat on the floor.
was doing safety for the shooter wen the round hit the edge of the pin,
slid under the plastic coating and came back out at us.
hit me in the chest.
had a big bruise for a few weeks

Got a Glancing blow to my Helmet w/ a 7.62 on the Left side of my head.
I turn to the right my neck is great my left now not so much!

Also might be informational to note: When @ a Public Range (you have zero control over the ‘Goof’s’ in the Lanes to the right and Left of you. This isn’t gospel said by Massod or anybody else. But I pick a lane (if I can) with a building wall on one of my sides of the lane. I have now reduced my chances of getting shot by ‘Friendly Fire’ by 50%. It is easier for your SA (Situational Awareness if your NOT spinning your head around 360 looking for a potential threat/hazard.
(plus you can spread your stuff out along the Wall a bit more, clear anything away from your feet. You can’t do that (@ least @ my range) when you are in the central lanes)

yes , ricochets can fly straight back at the source. I’ve personally seen it happen ,luckily only once and I was behind cover , I never wonder about lead from bullets sitting on/in the ground from outside practice it is only returning to where it came from in much smaller quantity’s. disposable batteries of all sizes are a bigger ecological threat than spent bullets; about the ricochet my bullet hit a rock covered in just enough dirt/ dust to be hidden behind my target until struck. and thankfully my cover took the ricochet hit
Is practicing using “frangible” non-lead bullets - a viable option to reduce ricochet injury or reduce leaving lead waste in the environment?
