Well,.. ummm, cameras weren’t invented until a few thousand years after they went extinct….
I have to say, until time travel is real,.. don’t hold your breath for that photo! 
What we do have is fossils and some mummified (frozen in permafrost) remains that we can look at.

For any really large and powerful big game: Big Cats, Wolves, Bear, etc, you want to stop them in their attack tracks with the first shot. If you are talking a hand gun vs. a rifle, or shotgun. I would favor.500 caliber.
If shotgun hollow point rifled deer slugs, or 00-Buck.
If rifle there are more than a few big game hunting rounds, starting with .300 and three digits to indicate a longer round with more power like .308 and up. 30-06, at least.
There are even bigger calibers for African Safari big game like RINOs.

Update: from what I have heard they do not plan to reintroduce the dire wolf into nature but rather the point of the project was to develope tech for future project as Dire wolves are one of the easyest to create with them having a very similar descendent (Grey wolves) and only a few major things to change (coat color and size).
