I know, right? What could possibly go wrong???

Probably nothing, though I think that I recall seeing a related documentary once. Believe it was called Prehistoric Playground, Paleontologist Petting Zoo, or something like that. Anywho, in the documentary, if memory serves, everyone had a great time and the up-close and personal connections made lasted for the rest of their lives.

It’ll be fun, they said

Edit to add: The science behind it is certainly interesting and amazing. Sometimes though, “could we” or “should we” might be better left to theoretical discussions. Suppose time will tell.

So, when does hunting season begin?

Wasn’t there 3 or 4 movies showing why not?

Maybe it went extinct for a reason

Hunted to extinction?
Old biological technology unable to adapt to changing demographics?
Or did they go the way of Elvis? ( He ain’t dead, he just went home. )

I see this as another example of man trying to see how smart he is. Kinda like how the Aggie scientists re-engineered the Texas Blue Bonnet to bloom MAROON AND WHITE. They called it the “Aggie Bonnet”. We die hard Texans didn’t like that much. How DARE they mess with our Blue Bonnets?

Technology is a wonderful thing when it works right and is used for the right thing. Lots of other more needed things in the world to spend the money on.

Just my 2 cents.

Unfortunately, it is estimated that China will catch and surpass us in biotechnology dominance in 3years or less. It’s yet another “forced” race to maintain an advantage over an increasingly potent Chinese imperialism.

They went extinct for a reason. What was the old margarine commercial what did she say? It’s not nice to mess with mother nature.!!!

This is just dumb, in my opinion. Something that went extinct over 10,000 years ago did so without modern man’s intervention. Why bring back a species that failed the “survival” of the fittest? We just gotta play God and meddle with evolution. And yes, God, creationism, and evolution are not mutually exclusive.

If I remember correctly they went extinct because man killed of their food sources (mammoth). The main goal of their company is to reverse man made extinctions such as Mammoths, Dodoes and those weird tiger wolf things along with other animals we indirectly drove extinct and to develope the tech to reverse future extinctions.

Definitely no shortage of those around

“Luckily”, it is not quite, what we think that they are selling.

They are not “resurrecting” animals from ancient dna. They are looking at ancient dna and modifying current wolf dna to match the ancient dna attributes. I know, I know, what is the difference? Maybe nothing, maybe everything. We don’t know yet. This could be a complete failure and we get a Gray Wolf with a slightly larger head or we get no change or we get hybrids unable to reproduce. (doubtful.)

I would rather they had tried to Dodo first, rather than an apex predator.

If they try to recreate a saber tooth, I’m buying a Barrett .50 cal!

That’s on my “guns to buy” list anyway
but yeah, saber tooth cats and cave bears would certainly be a convenient excuse to get one sooner!:rofl::rofl:
