I believe that you should fire three warning bshots. One inch group, between the Mutha’s eyes. Empty the clip in the Sickah’s left chest.
I think you all are being a might judgmental on the 65 year old lady for firing a warning shot. I’m guessing that she is not the cool, calm gunslinger you all seem to be and shooting someone to death was not on her things to do list. Let’s cut her a little slack and congratulate her for saving her friend’s life and not make a big deal over the warning shot.

I attempted to hold a class a couple of weeks ago. We had about 10 people including one pastor. I explained how the class would be conducted. The class was concerned about asking questions. I explained I would be glad to answer any question they had or find the answer for them if I did not know the answer. I did ask them to ask to keep the questions to the subject that was being covered at that time and any questions on another subject to be held or wrote down and handed to me, that I would get back to them via message or e-mail. I started with explaining the overview of the class and subjects. The first subject was conflict resolution. The next day I was informed by a friend that the class did not want to spend time with what they called boring information. They wanted to get right to the shooting part. I suggested that they be patient because they needed to know how to prevent a situation from becoming a shooting situation. Their time was more important then learning how to protect they lives. I terminated the class. It is hard sometime to figure what makes people tick.

I have a freind in WV that fired 2 warning shots at a guy swinging a metal baseball bat at his head & he was charged with 2 counts of wanton endangerment which carries a sentence 25 yrs each !
Thats 5 times the average sentence for involuntary manslaughter!
So never fire a warning shot & if your screamish about killing them put a round in their leg!

Difficult to train those that refuse to be trained or recognize that bad things could happen to them. I just have to keep information coming that identifies what can occur in real life. Push but softly.
Separately, a warning shot just gives the D.A. something to raise a challenge to self defense.

Two things come to mind for safety:
- A simple $99 doorbell cam could have kept the homeowner away from the door (or even better full on security cameras.)
2.) He should have been prepared from the start with a firearm before approaching the door.
Wish there was more detail to the article. BTW, having Cameras and a security system do not make you any safer, however they can when used with a firearm allow you to make an appropriate response.

When advertising or signing up students, are they provided a course description with an outline of topics covered, the time/materials/activities budget, and so forth? Or do they just sign a list that says “Gun Class” and carry their own expectations around until the orientation session?
There’s quite a difference between Basic Pistol, Defensive Handgun, How to Shoot Better, Refuse to be a Victim, Militia 101, Defend Your Church, and so forth. It sounds like your class enrolled without knowing what they were being offered — or at least not paying attention.

My challenge is that my wife refuses to learn about firearms, even though I am retired US Army and our son is active duty Army – both of us combat vets. He and I both own multiple firearms but my wife/Mom refuses to go shooting with us or learn safety/security measures. Recommendations?

Show her a USCCA Womans Class. The one I put on is for just ladies and small groups or even individuals.
We make if fun (not that the open classes aren’t fun either) and oriented around the concerns and safety issues woman have. No US Army boys around to chest pound.
What town are you close to?

Accept that she is entitled to make her own decisions, and is not obliged to value everything you value.
Accept that (at least for the time being) you have a naive non-shooter in the household. Your storage, staging, and security choices need to account for that.
Share the sense of fun, joy, bonding, security, whatever that you and your son enjoy in shooting together. But don’t push, pressure, or alienate her if she lacks of interest (or fears or has other cause of hesitation) — every adult gets to make their own choice.

I live alone as my wife passed away in May 2021. She was vehemently opposed to having a handgun in the house. I have since purchased a S&W M&P compact 9mm with 4" barrel, and added a red dot and flashlight.
Yesterday I finished my fourth one on one class with a former Marine sergeant who taught pistol training when not deployed. This class was the first time I have ever fired a pistol. With my new best friend at my shoulder coaching, I fired 80 rounds at various targets. When we finished, I asked for a grade. He told me that for a first time shooter,at the age of 72, I got a solid B. A good start but more training is needed. I also have essential tremor, which is a fancy way doctors call shaky hands. No treatment and no cure. My training was at CQT in Shelby Twp. Michigan. Coach was great, and I dry fire about 30 minutes a day.

I am retired as well as my wife. We have guns in strategic locations. We have a plan for all scenarios & we do actually go through the motions. We answer the door with a gun behind our hip. Everywhere We usually sit, a gun is within reach including the crapper.
