Steel Case Ammo at Indoor Ranges... The truth?

I suppose its range specific… my range allows steel, and aluminum casing…

Had to smile. “Military Classic”, made in Russia. Don’t let the Congress see that. They’ll try impeach again. At the indoor range I go to, they run a magnet over your ammo. If it attracts, you’re not shooting.

One of my shooting ranges (indoor) stated that, for them, it was a spark hazard, whereupon they regaled me with an event that occurred with a sister range. Apparently a “steel” round created a spark at a strategically inopportune spot that caused a fire. No loss of life; no significant property damage, but that is rumored to have caused a steel ban for that facility; shortly thereafter sister ranges in the neighborhood caught the memo and made similar restriction.

I haven’t done the homework on this one, for what that’s worth.
