Hank Williamâs Jr. âTennessee Studâ - âMe and a gambler couldnât agree, we got in a fight over tens and threes. We jerked our guns and he fell with a thud and I got away on the Tennessee Stud. The Tennessee Stud was long and lean, the color of the sun and his eyes were green. He had the nerve and he had the blood and there never was a hoss like the Tennessee stud!â
That song always reminds me of Vadar, a coal black half Morgan half Arab gelding horse that I owned since he was three until I had to put him down at 31. Didnât match the physical description, but âHe had the nerve and he had the blood.â OK. Iâll stop.
A horse will take your heart and youâll be forever changed. Love horsesâŠ

Another line in Tennessee Stud - âWe came to Big Muddy and we forded the flood on the Tennessee Mare and the Tennessee Stud.â
That line reminds of 2005 and 2006 when I took Vadar to Montana and participated in the 129th and 130th anniversary reenactments of the Battle of Little Bighorn. Both years we forded the LBH River as Renoâs battalion did in 1876. In 2005, it was so deep that Vadar wasnât fording - he was swimming! (At least part of it). He was in his early 20âs when he did it. Sorry itâs kind of off topic, but guns were definitely involved.
