I did not realize when I bought it that it was steel cased ammo which I avoid using, I did however notice that it was shooting extremely dirty and then I started getting bad sparks so I field stripped my gun and looked down the barrel and I couldn’t believe how fouled it had gotten. I’ve had about 300-500 rounds since the last time I really cleaned the gun but I’ve done a couple quick wipes but this ammo is trash.
Welcome to the community! That looks really fouled up. I, too, avoid steel casings and use either Sig or Federal ammo.
I’ve used wolf brass plated steel cases ammo. Never had that problem. I feel failure to feed but that’s about it.
Ummmmmmm,…. I’ve run 500+ rounds through a .22rimfire and never seen a bore that trashed!
That (if a real picture) looks like it spent a long time underwater!
Welcome aboard. I noticed a very large muzzle flash when using these rounds. As for the barrel, I keep a cleaning kit in my range bag and after field stripping I cleaned the barrels. They were dirty, but I don’t think that bad.
Update: I got a box from FedEx. I opened it and it was two, 50 round boxes of Veteran 124 grain brass cased ammo. Completely soaked with water. It was drying out but the cardboard boxes were trashed. I assume it was FedEx but I can’t say for sure. I went back through my email and I actually never got confirmation that I was getting the full 500 replaced. Regardless I contacted Hyperion about what happened and asked that they verify that I was getting 2 boxes. I sent pictures of the package but didn’t blame Hyperion for the water damage.
I’m guessing that whoever sent my order screwed up, because my contact was, in my estimation: upset. He apologized, told me to dispose of the boxes of ammo and he’d send out a full case of 500. Expecting delivery tomorrow.
So, after FedEx deciding to delay my delivery for no reason whatsoever, I finally got my replacement box of 500 rounds. It was Veteran Ammo, 124 grain FMJ. I took it to the range today and it shot well, no failures and groupings were consistent. I may stay away from Hyperion but I can’t complain about Veteran Ammo.
Kudos to them for stepping up and replacing Brass plated steel case ammo with brass.
I recently put 50 rounds of the Vetran ammo through 2 of my pistols. It ran well even in the one that doesn’t like Blazer brass. I liked it enough that I wish I could find it in bulk locally.
