What in the actual F! Ever wonder why the anti-gun groups are powerful, it’s because of jackwagons like this give them ample reason to further restrict us.
“Detroit Police Officer Brandon John Ely has been charged with fourth-degree child abuse. His wife, Rabab Ibrahim Al Zayad, faces a charge of unsafe storage of a firearm.”
OK, so the wife allows her handgun to go to the daycare with their child. I don’t quite understand the child abuse charges against the father. I’m not saying the charges are right or wrong, just saying it doesn’t all make sense to me based on the link.
I suspect that due to his being a parent of his child, he should have ensured that any firearm in the household was secured from his child gaining unsupervised access. He gets his day in court to show that he was not there to prevent such an incident and that he was unaware that his wife did/does not secure her firearm when not on her person. It may have been a one-time forgetfulness on the wife’s part, but a review and accountability is justified.
Personally, I would be mortified knowing my child got ahold of a firearm that I did not secure or knowingly allowed my wife to leave her firearm unattended within reach of a young child. Okay, that last part could never happen as she does not possess a firearm. However, If she did, I would verify that she did not do that.
Yikes, losing possession of all firearms including his service weapon?
And the gun that caused trouble was registered to the wife?
Sounds negligent that no one noticed and said,
“Hey kiddo, your backpack is a little heavy today?!”
“I think it’s appropriate at this time that both not have or possess any firearms,”
Spoken like a true anti 2A Judge.
Anyone that has kids around, hell I have a damn cat around, MUST BE carful of where the gun is and where the little one is.
Or, applying some kind of unwritten red flag law… ![]()
And maybe his job if he is actually negligent? I have no issue with that. If you know your spouse is irresponsible, how much responsibility do you have when she allows your child unsupervised access to a firearm?
At this point we do not have all the facts. Hopefully this will be sorted out in the courtroom.
I agree with the judge. If the father is complicit, taking his firearms is the absolute minimum. I have known more than enough LEOs to know they are no different than other citizens. In fact, they are more likely to commit crimes and get cover from other officers than regular citizens. The stories I have been told by officers I have known, you can’t imagine the eggregiousness of, and these were the “good” officers. On the flipside, they have also done things that were good, too, or showed good judgment in not arresting people for crimes based on circumstances.
Kudos to the judge.
Come on, it was his turn at show and tell. Nothing says it better than my dad, who is a cop, than to show off a gun…
I think this is a liberal attempt to disarm and defund this officer. You just know the liberals put the gun in the kids’ backpack. Just like they did to sabotage, the reflecting pool with box cutters. This is just another liberal attempt to discredit Donald J. Trump’s law enforcement policies…
Its just michigan liberal laws. I want accountability, dont get me wrong. Kids in schools seem to be bringing guns to schools alot around here.
I dont know if dad knew or did not, in this state you be presumed guilty and you will have a chance to prove innocence. Regardless, your getting jail time.
Blue states my friends
This case involves a toddler. Something doesn’t add up ![]()
A Toddler and a Cop ![]()
Recently, In kalamazoo MI, I believe it wasa 3rd grader had a gun go off in its backpack at school.
Its not just MI but parenting has gone into the shidters it seems
…gun-owning couple.
Badges dont mean crap. Alot of cops are dumber than kamala
Dang, that level of dumb is unmeasurable…
I was going to say at least she isn’t so stupid as to be non-verbal, but I believe we would be better off if she was that stupid, at least dumb enough to stop her cackling. ![]()
Uhhhhh…how? Setting aside for a moment the fact that the child even had access to a gun, how does a toddler even bring a gun to school? Did it go all gangsta and stick it down the front of it’s diaper? Hide it in it’s backpack? Doesn’t even sound like something a toddler could do without the parents knowing about it.
Well I guess at that age the little one ‘could’ be making and packing his own lunch, getting homework papers together getting a gun and then getting all into his backpack with no help from Dad… ![]()
I just made a video about this in NH. A father had an unsecured firearm and his 3 year old obtained it and shot himself. However the story told and the story that surfaced behind the scenes are different which is what I’m guessing here. The facts will detail exactly what really happened and what the possible defenses are. In MA there really isn’t a possible defense but in NH there are a few possible ones.
MI has a similar law to NH where there are some defenses and I want to know the facts before I condemn him. I do agree that 100% secure needs to be the norm but how do we know there wasn’t a trigger lock on that gun? We don’t know anything for sure. He and she will get their day in court and we’ll see what the actual deal was.
