@Randall8, how was the pricing? I’ve heard that these two joints still sell ammo at pre-broke-earth prices.

Hey @Ra3, Welcome to the commuity.

What quantity was that? So maybe #1000 for $90, not bad.
Primers and powder, yes, I’ve still heard those are hard to get.

Academy Sports & Outdoors here in Greenville, SC wasn’t terrribly bad expensive. Haven’t had a chance to get pistol ammo at Palmetto State Armory yet, so I can’t speak to that. However, the shotgun ammo there is still pretty much the same price as it always has been. I bought a box of Sellier & Bellot FMJ 9mm ammo at my range not long ago and paid a pretty penny for it, I must say. Now they have some SIG Sauer V-Crown 9mm hollow points for sale and I think if I remember right the price on those was something like around $53. Have to double check on that to be sure.

Hi @Fizbin,

I bought 500 9mm projectiles from Bass Pro shops (my bad, I said Cabelas in the previous post) at approximately $0.09 + shipping.
From American Reloading I ended up buying 1000 .223 and 9mm projectiles for $89 each …and free shipping!

Now i just need powder and PRIMERS!!

Hope this helps!

I know this is an expensive proposition but I took advantage of ranges the do that.

I take my revolver to the range, rent a gun that I may be interested in and purchase the ammo for it.

When I get into my lane, I would practice with my revolver and keep their ammo. This has worked out because the range was only charging me $11.50 for the ammo and $5 for the gun rental.

The Bride and I were able to acquire at least 100 rnds/week this way. (Until the range ran out of ammo completely…we found another range…)

I went to a retail store in “the city” for the first time in 11 months yesterday.
(Prior to that it was the grocery store and only the local Home Depot where they all know me)
I went to Academy Sporting Goods in San Marcos, TX,… with a friend who needed a few things for this Saturdays monthly church shooting club meeting.

They had about 6 handguns in the display for sale, and a guy was there buying one.
They had no ammo other than maybe a dozen boxes of 20guage shot gun.

The guy (person, sorry for the gender identity) behind the counter said that they get a small amount of ammo and firearms everyday.

That the line outside the building EVERY morning is about 40-50 people and starts at 0400 to 0430! Unbelievable!!! Employees are not aloud to purchase more than 3 boxes of ammo a week, so they don’t buy it all and resell it.

I have not been looking for ammo but, I sure would like some primers! Small rifle primers. about 2000 of them.

Forgive me what were we talking about?

Everything that’s occurring in our country is driving the cost of everything out of control. Between Q1 and Oct the prices and availability were “x”. Then Biden won and the prices became “y”. Then last week happened and the prices are insane. How is the cost of .223 brass FMJ $1.00 / round??? Insanity. Makes me not want to go to the range and practice but I know it’s the right thing to do.

I’m a member of another gun forum and I’ve traced back the same recurring shortages back to 2001. Same exact problems. I suspect that “this too shall pass.”

Maybe someone here has already asked the question, but does anyone have a solid strategy on how and where to find 9mm? or 556? I have looked high and low for weeks now without much success. its been hit or miss when I stop by Sportsmans Warehouse. Just about anywhere else I go in town (Phoenix, AZ) they are all out (including Cabelas).

The other thing I find is that when I do see some available it’s often 3x the normal cost. For now I am refusing to pay those prices just based on principle.

I have some stored ammo but not enough that I feel comfortable going to the range to practice at the moment.
