LOL! Sounds like you served in the same era that I did. I remember a couple of people getting blanket parties for various reasons. We took care of things ourselves back in those days and the command pretty much looked the other way. You certainly couldn’t get away with that now with all these sniveling crybabies serving these days.
Veterans, how many times have you heard “I was going to join but…”?
God, a thousand times I bet. And thousands of excuses why they didn’t. Many of them were younger people I knew who talked about little else while in school. “I am gonna be a Seal or a Ranger or Special Forces” etc. On and on they went. I always gave much encouragement and advice when appropriate.
It was sadly funny how almost all of them found many reasons not to join after graduation. Lol

Tho, there are those of us who legitimately tried to join but the dr giving the entry physical was a retarded piece of $#!+ and wouldn’t let it happen.
I totally understand and have participated in the good natured USAF/USN rivalry for years, but how long has the Navy had the B-2, F-22’s , and F-16’s?
