Improvise and innovate
Guy I know really wanted to join, but he knew he couldn’t pass the eye exam without his glasses. So, while standing in the eye exam line at the intake center he memorized the eye chart.
Mmmmm. Garlic Mashed Potatoes…
Fine dining, indeed.
Ah yes! Force-on-Force exercises. Seen more than a few. My fave was at a highly restricted “nuclear” facility in the Rockies. Defending force was battle-geared up and “ready for anything.” Protocol called for a physical badge verification (i.e. actually touching) for each employee coming through the gates on the company bus. Young over eager guard boarded the bus, his AR slung on his shoulder, and proceeded down the aisle of the crowded bus, touch verifying each badge. Got to the back and about faced to head back to the front. As he whipped around he slapped the butt stock of his AR into the head of a sleeping steelworker, who promptly jumped up and knocked out the guard, putting him face down in the aisle. The steelworker got a standing ovation and the guard spent the next year on desk duty. Good times!
Colorado or New Mexico?
The Flats (although I did spend some time at L.A.)
My mom worked at the flats from the mid 80s until it was fully decommissioned (I worked doing anti-C laundry during the D&D stages)
Then she went to LA before finally retiring.
They’re trying to build apartments and condos out there at the flats now! ![]()

I was there from '74 till '84. Don’t think I would be interested in owning property there. Not because of legacy waste, but the climate across that plateau can be brutal.
BUFFs have (almost) ruled the skies since, uhm…
Long time ago!
(wiki sez) The B-52 took its maiden flight in April 1952.
