My first ETS was 1981. You’re in that same timeframe.
It seemed inevitable, I’d always get the damn fruitcake. There was never enough coffee to wash down the fruitcake.

I went to bootcamp in Nov. 86.
I was in USMC infantry for the next 6 years. I ate a lot of MREs, but never saw C-rats or K-rats… I did eat some MREs that had a packaging date older than me.

I had C rations in ‘Nam that were left overs from the Korean war. They didn’t come with P-38s. If you lost the one they gave you when you got there you had to use your K-Bar or bayonet, or go hungry. I now have a bag with 50 P-38’s - thanks to Amazon. Be Prepared!
