My school also had a basic Home Economics class that was mandatory. It included things like sewing on a button, and (most importantly) how to balance a checkbook. I can’t even begin to understand how many of todays ‘youts’ handle finances.

Yep! I actually found myself using trig a few years ago doing some remodel trim work. There was an offset wall that wasn’t at any normal angle, and I needed to know how to set the saw, so out came old “S-OH C-AH T-OA”.

In my high school we had an unofficial class on “life math”. It was taught by one of the shop teachers as a three week segment of Shop Math. We covered balancing a checkbook, filling out a 1040EZ tax form, calculating simple and compound interest, how loans and credit cards work, double-checking a gas or water or electric bill, even counting out change. Quite useful when starting out in the world.

They don’t! I’m not saying ‘All’ Yoot’s are clueless but the ones I’ve ‘worked with’ these last couple of years aren’t worth the cost of a pair of Jeans. Too Harsh?
I’ve seen these folk’s ruin an expensive paint job on an Airplane ( EDIT: misunderstood the directions on the solvent), the other day @ Wendy’s I gave exact change and the kid said ‘Are you sure it’s exact?’---- the list of head shakes makes me dizzy!..So sad.

This NEEDS to be circulated Gunners!

The ancient pattern: control by “permission to speak”

In the Gospels, Jesus doesn’t get executed for being nice. He gets executed because He publicly confronts three legitimacy engines that must monopolize “truth” to survive:

  1. Money power (moneychangers / temple commerce)
  2. Political power (Rome-facing administrators / stability managers)
  3. Religious power (hypocritical gatekeepers who weaponize holiness)

Jesus threatens all three with the same weapon: un-censorable truth spoken in public.

And that’s the throughline: when truth becomes public, the counterfeit loses its spell.

The modern “Censorship Industrial Complex” isn’t new - it’s upgraded.

Today, the same triad still runs the same play, just with better branding:

  1. Bankers

Goal: keep people confused about money, debt, interest, and who benefits.
Modern speech code: “Money is private. Don’t ask. Don’t compare. Don’t offend.”
Result: people don’t learn; they don’t challenge; they don’t organize; they stay dependent.

  1. Politicians and bureaucratic power

Goal: control narratives to maintain consent and avoid accountability.
Modern speech code: “Politics is divisive. Don’t talk about it - just vote and move on.”
Result: citizens outsource stewardship of their communities to professional deceivers.

  1. Pharisees in modern clothing (religious hypocrites / moral brand managers)

Goal: keep faith performative, compartmentalized, and harmless to power.
Modern speech code: “Religion is personal. Don’t bring it into public life.”
Result: the public square becomes spiritually sterilized, leaving only “approved” morality—usually whatever flatters power.

The “polite people don’t discuss money, politics, or religion” myth is a muzzle

That proverb masquerades as manners. Functionally, it’s a gag order.

It trains decent people to self-censor the three domains that most determine whether a society is free:
• Money (what you can build)
• Politics (who can use force)
• Religion / ultimate truth (what you’re willing to live and die for)

Silence here is not neutrality. It’s permission.

Why the tyrants love “niceness”

Because “niceness” can be used as a substitute for virtue.

The enemy of tyranny isn’t rudeness. It’s truthful, courageous, respectful speech—the kind that makes lies expensive.

So the system sells a fake ethic:
• “If you speak plainly, you’re hateful.”
• “If you ask questions, you’re dangerous.”
• “If you disagree, you’re violent.”
• “If you name corruption, you’re divisive.”

That is speech-coding - moral language used to suppress moral action.

What silence produces

When good people refuse to talk:
• lies go unchallenged,
• theft becomes normalized,
• corruption looks “complicated,”
• and spiritual cowardice gets rebranded as “being mature.”

Or said another way: our submission subsidizes their domination.

The Christ-pattern for public discourse

Jesus models something the modern world forgot:
• Truth without fear
• Mercy without compromise
• Conviction without hypocrisy
• Public witness without performative religiosity

He speaks plainly, asks piercing questions, exposes corrupt incentives, and calls people upward.

The constructive alternative?
Brave, respectful engagement.

The goal isn’t endless arguing. It’s restoring honest conversation:
• Ask: “What’s true?”
• Define terms: “What do you mean by…?”
• Follow incentives: “Who benefits if we don’t talk about this?”
• Separate person from claim: “I respect you; I disagree with that idea.”
• Invite accountability: “Let’s verify it together.”

Heck yes…easy A. I also remember the same for cursive writing, reading, and basic math. And don’t forget the American history and civics classes required to graduate from H.S.
