Not a '76. A '77. I had one that I bought before the movie came out. Loved it. Should’a kept it. Paid $8,000. No T-tops. (they leak once the seals harden.) 400 4 speed. Speedo went to 110 MPH but They left the pin out at the high mark so the needle kept going ;til it was straight up & down. There were 2 idiot lights to the right and left of the 6 o’clock position on the speedo. To the right, the needle would hit the “fasten seat belt” light. If you got to the left of that, the needle would indicate “brake”. I believe that they were there in an advisory capacity. Like you, I’d take my old '77 “Bandit” Edition over any movie car. Owned it 12 years, 100,000 miles and the everything was still tight.Man, I had a blast!!

If I were to get a muscle car that would be it. Probably couldn’t afford a refurbished one. Cost more now than back in the day.

My wife and I have been casually looking for used muscle cars. We decided not to get a vintage car. There’s be too much pressure to keep it vintage. It might be more fun to have a car that’s already been modified; then we could do whatever we want with it. Upgrade the suspension, modern radio, modified powertrain, etc. Plus, they’re cheaper when they aren’t so pretty.
