Plenty of stuff out there discrediting that. What he says was that the virus would mutate in response to antibodies. Just like the cold and flu viruses adapt. Some internet hero living in his mom’s basement thought it would be funny to change some words and scare people. Please don’t spread panic porn.

It’s partially correct, though. Everyone will eventually die., eventually. It’s the one thing we all have in common, whether you get the vaccine or not.

Yes, the statement is a hoax, however, ADE is a real concern for the vaccines that have been authorized. ADE is not a mutation of the virus, but an immune response that does not neutralize the virus, which in turn makes the virus more easily infect cells. I won’t try to explain the details as one would need a substantial understanding of biology and viral pathology.

Oh, for sure. I would put that under the same category as superbugs. It’s a real concern, but if new variants emerge that can defeat one or more of the current vaccines, they’re not going to specifically target vaccinated people like some sort of Russian malware that targets U.S. websites.

Some of the guys who worked on Manhattan Project thought there was a risk the atom bomb would ignite all the free hydrogen in the atmosphere on detonation. It didn’t.

And when anyone says “superbug” all I can think of is f/a 18 Super Hornet.

Again, that is not what ADE is. Here is a simple description:

ADE occurs when the antibodies generated during an immune response recognize and bind to a pathogen, but they are unable to prevent infection. Instead, these antibodies act as a “Trojan horse,” allowing the pathogen to get into cells and exacerbate the immune response.

COVID-19 Vaccines: Should We Fear ADE?

Live virus challenge of animals given SARS or MERS vaccines resulted in vaccine hypersensitivity reactions (VAH), similar to those in humans given inactivated measles or respiratory syncytial virus vaccines. Safe and effective COVID 19 vaccines must avoid VAH.

COVID-19 Vaccines: Should We Fear ADE? | The Journal of Infectious Diseases | Oxford Academic (oup.com)

VAH is a postvaccination outcome that may be associated with nonprotective antibodies. VAH is a complex and poorly defined immunopathology. Several different SARS and MERS vaccines have been shown to elicit a postchallenge VAH in laboratory animals. Ominously, when SARS-CoV-1–immune monkeys were challenged with homologous virus most animals had evidence of lung inflammation

ADE also requires prior exposure to similar antigenic epitopes, presumably circulating in local viruses, making it a possible explanation for the observed geographic limitation of severe cases and deaths.
