You can bet your A$$ that if the cops decided to join in on the “fun” and throw snowballs back, the city would have been sued for their not being charged for assault with a deadly weapon, and the cops would have lost their careers AND/OR be jailed.

I saw the video of what was happening before the police arrived and it was just people having fun. It would have been great if the police would have divided between the two groups who were throwing snowballs at each other across the road and got in on it. The citizens would have lost their minds watching police throw snowballs at each other and the people. I do understand the concern of officers being accused of hurting civilians, but if they would have divided themselves into the two groups who were participating, it would be a hard sell to claim they were trying to injure a civilian and also a hard sell on who threw the snowball. Anyways the snowballs on the police were just people who were throwing snowballs at each other and were having their fun ended by the fun police.
Haha the snow ball gauntlet. Just for context those people were throwing snowballs at each other before the police came down the road. And none of the officers lost their cool, pretty sure they understood the situation, they were going in to end a snowball fight that had not hurt anyone to that point, but to expect the citizens to not throw snowballs at them, when they had been throwing them at each other is a little extreme.
Yeah, gone are the days of respecting law enforcement in NYC.
