Hey Jerzy, Yeah I have use off shelf stuff from auto parts stores with no problems. I just look at the properties of what I chose to use to make sure it would not harm metal or finish of what I was cleaning. Yep on Mobil 1.
Well, After a good range day. Once all Firearms are cleared, broken down and ammo is put away from the cleaning area a couple long neck beers and great conversation carries the cleaning session along. ![]()
Heck yeah, Gun cleaning is my OCD. I developed this disorder while serving with Uncle Sam. Wonder if there’s disability rating to for that LOL
Have used creek water to flush one out. Pulled a piece of rag through with a piece of twine. Little lube back on go again. I have seen this on You tube many times. But my Grandpa showed me this years ago
I have even seen Vicks vapor rub used to lube a patch. My Grandpa and Grannie lived through the depression. Learned some great things for them. But shooting vapor rub opens everyones heads up lol
I had an enjoyable evening cleaning a mischievous .22 pistol.
I had the house to myself so I commandeered both the coffee table and the patio table—stripped and reassembly on the coffee table, swabbed with solvent and oil on the patio table so no fumes in the house,
I hadn’t taken the .22 out to play in some time and discovered that I was out of .22 patches, so I cut some .45 patches in quarters.
My .22 bore brush was MIA, so a new one is on the shopping list.
A peaceful, quiet evening.
