Legal Terms: Brandishing

In this vid, at the five-minute mark, he proposes the idea of not displaying or pointing the firearm until you are ready to pull the trigger. That there is such a thing s drawing it out too early/

Yet, I’ve seen training where it was suggested, yes, there are times when you can and should bring the firearm out, and immediately point it at the perpetrator, without firing, to hold the perpetrator at bay, keep pointing it.

But I’ve also seen training saying not to do that, but to wait until threat unto life or limb is occurring, then draw, point and shoot; But not to just point, as pointing is brandishing, which in of itself can be a serious crime if limb or life were not on the line.

What say you though? Do you know your state law on this scenario?
