Is freedom of Speech the first freedom we are giving up?

In some ways, yes. Partly because of the internet. People have forgotten how to have a face to face conversation. Use to, if you disagreed, it was while you looked in the eyes of the other party. That adds a certain level of decorum, in which the threat of getting a broken nose is real. With social media, you can say what you want, and be a super hero, keyboard commando with very little fear of reprisal.
Then there is the media itself. Be it how a president (any president) handles a situation, or a persons opinions on a virus, the “fact checkers” are always lurking.

This has driven some people to be quiet. It has, on the other hand, emboldened others. I myself, got up and “said my piece” at a school board meeting recently. I found out 2 days later, that was in the local paper, in its entirety. I had several teachers, friends, and parents reach out and thank me. Which hardened my resolve. It only takes one match, to start a forest fire.

Hello Bruce26,
I read “Atlas Shrugged” during the Obama administration. His actions matched the book so much, it was depressing.

‘Fair’–where is that in the bill of rights or the declaration of independence??
Ugh.
I’ll stick with the line from the Princess Bride. “Life is pain. Anyone who tells you differently is trying to sell you something.”
Fairness is a myth, and when we strive for it, I think all we do is create more class envy.

Exactly. The only thing close to fair, is the same starting point for “the race.” Where one finishes, is up to them.

Give all of your students "C"s so everything is “fair.”

The Declaration of Independence states that "All men (and women since the 19th Amendment was ratified) are CREATED equal. I think that’s the last time that everyone is equal. The gap widens as time passes due to availability of quality education, work ethic, life experiences, and DRIVE. Everyone has the same chance to succeed if they are willing to do what is necessary TO succeed. If public education is not sufficient to meet the desired results, then it becomes necessary to locate and enroll in a school that that DOES meet those needs. As well, if public education DOES NOT challenge the student, then it’s up to the parents to get involved and hold the School Boards responsible for this failure. It’s up to the parents to find out what teachers are putting into their children’s heads. If they don’t, they should not be surprised when their children are well versed in CRT but can’t balance a checkbook or read a credit card statement.

The (young) family members I have that belive that is true, all seem to think socialism will make everyone equal at the top of the haves and have nots. The struggle, even with examples, has been to show them that the only equality (ever gained under socialism) is at the bottom.
As for your first point about the 1A it is very true. It’s all to easy these days to blend in and keep our mouths shut. I’m guilty of this as well and I find myself thinking it’s not compliance, it’s picking my battles. Either way those whom would try to silence you are still winning.

You know that this is a big part of the problem, people are scared to stand up to the liberals and be counted in what they believe in. If you cannot do this then these people are a large part of the problem

And you’re going to be good little sheep? I proudly wear my “don’t blame me I voted for Trump” and my " second amendment is my gun permit" t shirts, have USCCA and NRA bumper stickers on my pickup. I’ve been cussed at, threatened, spit at, congratulated, high fived, and physicaly attacked. My response to the negative attitude has usually been a smile, a one fingered salute, and a “you must be a racist bigot”. Physical confrontations result in a thumb lock or a arm bar and the aggressor kneeling with a shocked facial expression. I’ve yet to draw my edc. 72 years have taught me to never trade freedom for security.

Our freedoms are being taken, yet you see our legislators promote and pass mail in balloting for the primary purpose of cheating an election. Then, the great irony, these corrupt bastards get reelected. It all starts with the ballot box. People need to discuss the issues with their neighbors because I believe many put their head in the sand, then vote for the slug who just sold their freedom off by voting for a gun control bill or some tax hike.

Yes! This is the way it should be. But we have so many Chicken S–t people that will not do or say anything until it affects them personally.

I haven’t read “Atlas Shrugged” or “Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire”’ I HAVE read “United States of Socialism” by Dinesh D’souza and “Arguing With Socialists” by Glenn Beck. My take-away about Socialism is rather simplistic. With the exception of select “elites”, it DOES make all the peans equal. They’re all broke, without power or self-determination, and their only duty is to further the “Collective”. Individualism is unacceptable and must be eliminated either by “re-education” or more PERMANENT means. It would be a good idea for the young to do a more in depth study before they end up living the horrors themselves.Googling Tianenmen Square,1989 might be a good start to find out how dissension is dealt with in Socialist/Communist regimes.

Try to show people what is happening. And invite them to the voting booth next November.

You Could “GROW A BACKBONE” and Start Taking Back Your Freedom!! If there are people, In YOUR LIFE that Don’t Like it then they ARE NOT FRIENDS. Tell them to ACCEPT YOU THE WAY YOU ARE. OR, TELL THEM THAT THE DOOR WORKS BOTH WAYS AND DON’T LET THE DOOR HIT YA, WHERE THE GOOD LORD SPLIT YA!!!

What bothers me is these liberal socialists tell us how educated they are. Yet they go around flaunting their ignorance like it’s a virtue!!

When someone calls for V’s to show we are vaccinated, I will make a yellow to remind people of the yellow Stars David required by the 3rd Reich.

At a High School Reunion later this month in a state that the Governor requires masks indoors, my mask will look like the kind worn by outlaws in Westerns. I actually don’t expect it to be worn much, because I will have a cup of water in my hand that I will be sipping all night long, when I am not munching on the heavy horderves.

Yes remember the past or it will be re Lived. Our sources of higher education are not teaching in many cases but indoctrinating. This may be happening in the large Liberal cities but. But it is being resisted in other areas. Yes I wonder about the V pins also. History needs to be taught. Listen to Paul Harveys warning in 1965. He is on point.
