Avoidance and de-eselation: They both failed it
This whole thing could and should have been handled with no name calling, no insults, and setting a precedent with the younger shooters that disagreements or accusations or whatever are settled more maturely than thisâŠespecially with firearms involved.

Not being there myself but reading âSuspender Dikâsâ confrontational attitude and
poor lack of any class he wants a fight. He doesnât wish for a settlement for the (2) parties or
compliance of Range Rules. If It were ME I would hang the jerk up by his suspenders in a far away tree (Duct tape would be involved, definitely Duct Tape itâs in my Range bag). and Call the Range Owners/Management. Itâs obvious heâs been antagonistic w/ the Teacher before, bad blood whatever you wish to call it. âIâm going to call the cops because you called me an idiot?â BRING it you old duffer. When/IF the cops ever show they should berate the antagonist for wasting their time on this non-issue, If he is an âROâ there he should be fired immediately and BANNED from setting foot on the Range again. If this idiot kept disturbing my class he may have argued himself into a âOne Punch Lunchâ But I donât hit my elders. Gummer-man should just go the phuck away and never be seen again. The Instructor had impressionable new shooters and he handled it well, kept it light. One pointed out they got it all on camera and the instructor didnât jump on that. He brushed it off. THAT is handling it.
Iâm sure there are many other instances where grandpa disturbed the enjoyment of people just Training, Instructing, and having a good time etc.
My Range time is Special to me. Donât phuck w/ me. You have a problem, see a mistake, ask me for a minute and state your case. You wish to be a dik, youâll be doing it alone. Iâll march right up to the Manager/Owner and discuss this idiots employment situation. I donât have the time or the crayons to argue with overzealous/Amateurish Moronâs. You are a âRange Officerâ SAFETY is your goal and the safety of all shooters. You are NOT there to antagonize/disrupt anybodyâs business. A little power in very small people goes to their head, and they should not be around Guns.

You make a valid point. On the one hand, when there is no violence, I call it a win. On the other hand when gentlemen lower themselves to name calling, itâs a fail.
I donât get the need of the older gentleman to confront. But I donât get the need of the less older gentleman to name call.
While nothing happened, a wiser use of deescalation and conflict avoidance is in order. If nothing else, it gives the guy a chance to practice that skill set.
Here is the thingâŠavoidance and de-escalation are most important precisely when you think the other guy is being the jerk.

I donât go to my Range to fight, I go to shoot. I donât like my current range (Indoor) because of disrespectful ROâs. But I have to go because itâs too damn cold right now to go to my favorite Outdoor Cop Shop Range. ( I get free donuts! I love GOOD Cops)
I pay the Feeâs Leave me alone. I donât know anybody there I wish to socialize with (I have enough on my plate with you people! 
) I am not âAllowedâ to move around in my Lane, draw from my Holsters, and a couple more rules but I follow them. I LOVE Rules in general, It keeps me sane knowing what I can and canât do in certain places. RESTRICTIONS on the other hand are just asinine, but if you say stand stock still and fire down range a round every (10) seconds, no mag dumping in order to Train that is what I do. I have âpleadedâ w/ Bulldog Firearms in Rio Rancho PLEASE! open up a Range!!! Dear God Please!

Summoned up the Courage to face the Indoor Gun Range yesterdayâŠ
(There is a reason why I now go to the Desert (Mesa) than attempt the Range.
A guy was at the counter in FULL CAMOâS (surprised he didnât have twin belts of .50 caliber criss crossing his chest! 
)
He was loudly (of course) pontificating how he should get a FREE LANE because it was Veterans day andâŠHE WAS A VET⊠(doubtful) He reminded me of the Character in âHighlanderâ the Movie with the UZI , Remember that one? I came in the door and he must have seen the look on my face and loudly (again) said âWHAT?â I told him âThatâs my lineâ and walked back out the doorâŠ
You read all these articles in âGATâ, â TTAGâ etc about 'How not to act , What not to do â @ a Gun Range/Gun shop and lately te âactionsâ of some of these wanna-be Ramboâs is getting more EXTREME.
I guess these folkâs donât read these articles?. I for one donât wish to draw attention to myself, I donât wish to be singled out for âINAPPROPRIATE Behaviorâ Just let me pay for my Lane and get down to it. But lately LIFE intrudes and I find myself seeking the solitude of Mother nature and my trusty Rake!

Do you have any mom and pop gun shops around with a range? Outdoor ranges are scarce here because of overpopulation, but I have a nice little LGS that is run by a great family, and they have a little 25 yard indoor range thatâs friendly, never crowded and my favorite place to shoot. They know me, so that when Iâm alone in there, no one even bothers to come in and act as âRSOâ. I basically have a quiet, comfortable, air conditioned place to myself to relax and train, or just plink.
Gun Shop/Ranges are almost non-existant out here.
The two locations that have both together is a corporate type place
that sells over priced Guns/Ammo/Accessories and has (14) Lanes each.
CALIBERâS (catchy name huh?) but it is almost the only game in town.
A Monopoly has been established and the âCityâ seems to leave them alone.
But they are developing a bad rep in awful ROâs and Restrictions, NO HOWITZERS ALLOWED!
How do they expect me to keep up with my training? SHEESH-A_MEESH! 
âThe Stateâ (Deep State) has an Outdoor Range in a nasty part of town (Good thing we carry Guns to go there! ) I was photographed there twice! Big Brother and all thatâŠNever again.
Iâve been asking yâall here for years anybody have an extra Million+ dollars laying around ina mattress somewhere theyâd make a killinâ opening a GUNNER FRIENDLY RANGE here.
And just to top this all off I am going further and further out to escape the watchful eyes of the âOpen Rangeâ Officersâthey like everything else use to be cool, today? Not so much
