Food preservation in emergency situations

Backup generator and well and septic here… fireplaces also. I do have emergency distilled water stored just in case. Add to that a couple trash bins to catch water from the gutter if needed (and my area is kind of marshy). Besides beans, rice, and some other canned foods that have a few years before expiration, I stocked up on a few weeks of Mountain House meals. IIRC, they updated their shelf life to 20 years.

Be very care full with DI water. The human body does not do well with it as it literally will suck nutrients out of your system and create all kinds of other issues due to dehydration and mineral/chemical imbalances.

I prefer my distilled water in a Tito’s bottle! It mixes with anything and sanitizes at the same time!
