Double edge sword. If not a firearm, make them over the counter, no 200 tax or background check
Down side is those of us in blue states know they will be banned immediately.
Hope its not bondi being her anti 2A self and they actually have something planned to make cans over the counter like actual gun parts
Pam “Take my Guns” Bondi is not our friend and she is never going to side with gun owners. She was a terrible pick.
If they are not firearms, then the ATF should not be allowed to regulate them - nor any state. I, personally, don’t want one… well maybe, if, when they are de-regulateed, they become properly priced, I might like one for my .22, but then the state and local government would also need to allow my to plink in my backyard.
It’s brilliant because it is finally correct, cans are NOT firearms so the ATF should have no jurisdiction over them. I believe this is one of the starting steps in stripping power off the ATF.
I disagree, it makes it so States can determine the legality of an option on a firearm. If they can determine a suppressor is illegal, they can do the same for anything you may wish to attach to your rifle as being illegal which includes handguards, scopes, flashlights, magazines and everything else we enjoy.
Some states already regulate magazines and how many rounds the gun can carry,
Or a bayonet on your shotgun
They can do that today. Plenty of states ban the ownership of “things”, from suppressors to loud mufflers. At least now you can pick which state suits your needs and move there or fight them at a local level without the weight of the ATF on their side.
This right here….she did us no favors as the Fl AG
Understood that “cans” sound suppressors are not firearms, but they do modify firearms.
Same argument goes for Glock Switches.
I would love to have a can for every firearm that I own.
If bad guys come to invade my home, I’d love to pick off a bunch before they realize there numbers are diminished to the more manageable, and they cannot overwhelm be rushing me anymore.
But, not at Two Hundred Dollars a pop, and big rigamarole to get each one.
We have to be very watchful right now about our gun rights. For two main reasons. Trump has been shaky on the Second Amendment before. Trump is governing and making wholesale changes by Executive Order. So if we want changes in the 2A they have to be codified into law or it’s just temporary those orders only work until some other President is elected and then it all comes undone. That’s the biggest problem going right now. Department of Education gets shuttered by Executive Order, it can be reinstated by the next POTUS.
Republicans are being very cowardly right now, they say the right things and are letting President Trump be the face of all of these changes. But they aren’t codifying anything. Also we apparently didn’t learn a farking thing from Citizens United. When unlimited money came into play in elections the Republicans lorded it over Democrats for one election cycle afterwards the Democrats pounded Republicans, just like Obama told them would happen (hate to say anything nice about Obama but he got it right about Citizens United). Now we are doing it with Executive Orders. Next Democrat to get the big chair now has the road map and precedent.
Say what you like about the Democrats but they mostly vote en block and en mass. Republicans are like herding cats.
We are well and truly worked if Republicans don’t start codifying things.
I understand your concern, just look no farther the what Trump has, or is trying to undo that Biden did.
There are bills before both houses of congress right now that would address that very issue.
That is why I am a strong supporter of them.
Very clear here who believes in our RKBA and who does not.
I believe the Republicans in the legislature ARE beginning to show a spine. In the last 63 days they have stuck together to get ALL of Trump’s cabinet confirmed, while being the smallest House majority since 1931. They also got the continuing resolution to fund the government through, which has resulted in the dems championing AOC and Bernie Sanders as the new leading candidates of the party! The dems are in total meltdown!
You have to remember, Congress typically moves at a glacial pace, but supporting the Trump agenda has them revelling in their latest wins, and the thirst for popularity among their constituents is their opioid of choice. Continued winning will make them more productive. Again, it has only been 63 days!
