10 seconds to gather all the information needed to react to a situation. That is all the time leading up to your reaction. What facts can you obtain in five seconds? Fear will strike instantly but then the mind needs time to react. Just like waiting for a buzzer to go off before you start firing but, in this situation, you did not know the buzzer was going to be sounded. This is where training would help!
