Caring with one in the chamber

I tried searching even AI about “any jurisdiction requiring an empty chamber while carrying a gun?”

It either did not understand my question, or there is no such justification.

It only discussed that there are 21 states with “constitutional Permitless carry.”

Nice to know that we are passing 40% in that direction.

Gives one hope that others will follow.

Last I checked, there were 28 states that didn’t require permits to carry.

29 states are Constitutional or Permitless Carry.

They are:
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, W Virgina and Wyoming.

Louisiana is the most recent (mid-year (June or July?) '24)

Thanks. We’re getting there.

Indeed

Brother, you’re putting too much faith in AI, I have seen many cases where Chat GBT was wrong or couldn’t give the answer.
Not arguing that there is such regulation, just commenting about AI.

Best answer! I was just updating my information.

29 of 50 states is 58%; nearly 3/5 equals nearly 60% of states are Permitless carry.

Of course you have to be aware of the state’s laws that you are in as they likely differ on some aspects from your state of residence.

The main difference I noticed is legal age to carry varies from a low of 18 to 19, to a high of 21.

So, if you are not yet 21, but legal in your state of residency, be sure that’s the same in the state that you are visiting.

That also gives encouragement to the (NCCR) National Concealed Carry Reciprocity act bill having that much better of a chance of passing.

Excellent advice, my friend!

It is very important to check the states that you are travelling through and to before you embark on a voyage. Aside from age, there are variations with regard to the locations within the state that you can carry, open/concealed, while in a vehicle, etc etc etc.

Texas is a Constitutional Carry State, however there are positives for LTC licensees. There are quite a few places that prohibit open carry but allow license concealed carry. I would encourage everyone to go the LTC license direction even if your state is a Constitutional Carry State. The statistics have shown, that obtaining a license has increased the likelihood that the individual will pursue additional firearms training. The range that I’m a member, has trainings weekly.

The EXACT reason why one should always carry with a round in the chamber. In my mind this is a training compliance issue. The user is not confident enough in his/her training to be compliant with rule #1. Therefore empty chamber carry and high likelihood that the lack of training on their part will end up getting them killed in a gunfight.

Sorry, I won’t sugar coat it. If you can’t bring yourself to carry a firearm in condition 0 stick to compliant submission and hope for the best.

lol! Accidentally clicked while scrolling on the phone! I’ve opened the flag pop up a few times accidentally too,… but never seen that before!

And now I know how to delete my own post! :+1:

Looks like AI does not know that there 29 states with “Constitutional Permitless Carry”.

To each his/her own. Personally, I’ve not quite decided to carry chambered on pistols, yet. I do vary my EDC from pistol to revolver. But this sad story posted this week pushes me toward un-chambered:

Yes it does. Or, they are intentionally downplaying that from nearly 60% almost 3/5, 30 states are “constitutional” Permitless carry states vs. not updating from only 21.

If AI is so smart, efficient, effective, and thoughtful about most everything else why not about this.

GIGO the old computer programming Garbage In / Garbage Out of biased algorithms programmed by those who don’t agree with reality.

That anti American anti cop troll is back after he said he wouldn’t be

Yes, my Sig is condition zero, there’s no manual safety of any kind…. Definitely something I would inform any officer wishing to disarm me of!

Am I concerned that I may be shot by a cop with my own gun?

Well, yes, I’d be concerned that ANYONE trying to draw MY gun from MY holster could inadvertently shoot me!

I’d wager that 99.5% of police interactions with responsibly armed CCW holders don’t end like that story though.

Yes, understood. Some are programmed biased.

The old excuse its a computer glitch when its really that old GIGO garbage in / garbage out computer programming.

@Burdo I am having the same thoughts, but honestly last night I had few nightmares about the issue, not good results, it hurt getting shot even in the dreams.
I rotate between two guns with my EDC but non have safety, to put this into ease I’m planning to get something with a manual safety, at least it’s a good excuse to buy a new gun when my wife asks about it🤣

Total agree about AI being biased.

That’s a lot of ask for AI…especially since the above statement is wrong.

At least according to some, including the USCCA Concealed Carry Magazine writer who explained Vermont is the only true Constitutional carry state.

It’s quite wrong to, for example, claim Florida is Constitutional carry, when it’s generally illegal to open carry. Nothing in the Constitution says you must hide your arms in order to bear them.

“Permitless concealed carry” is legal in 29 states currently.

The USCCA reciprocity map is the best resource here. It has excellent detail on every state.
