Body Armor?

I believe it was Clint Smith who said something like “body armor requires good aim by the opponent”.

Gun fire from gang bangers or a violent leftist is likely to be “spray and pray” in both scenarios.

Is there a special body armor I can use against “violent leftist”?
What if “violent neighbor”… who is actually Trump supporter starts shooting at me? :face_with_peeking_eye:

Then you would be living in an alternate reality where magic potions and hexs that work are also likely to exist.

So… seems we are already living there… :person_shrugging:

When considering body armor, there are several factors to evaluate, starting with its intended purpose. Will the armor be for daily wear, or primarily for home defense and situations of civil unrest as you mentioned?

If you intend to wear armor routinely, prioritize lightweight, comfortable options that permit extended wear. Pay close attention to armor ratings and the calibers they are rated to stop, and select a protection level appropriate to the threat you anticipate. It might be worth researching popular calibers in your area to help make this decision easier.

For home defense or civil unrest scenarios, a load-bearing style vest might be more suitable. These vests are usually easy to put on or take off, and are available in a range of sizes and configurations. They can also accept hard plates (such as ceramic inserts) for protection against higher-caliber threats. The added benefit of this is that if a ceramic plate somehow gets damaged, you can easily swap it out with a new one.

There is also concealable bullet-resistant clothing like jackets, shirts, and vests, which offer protection while drawing less attention than tactical or load-bearing vests. These can be a viable option when discretion is important.

Whichever option you choose, make sure it works for you and your household. Does the armor restrict movement or interfere with weapon manipulation? If you plan to use long guns with optics, make sure you can use those optics reliably and comfortably while wearing the armor.

You have been shot by a Trump supporter?

Wondering which ones might “not” protect well from knife stabbings, and which ones do protect well from a knife?

Why would they start shooting at you in the first place?

I get that there’s extremists on both sides of the isle,… you seem pretty moderate by my interactions with you. Same with most naturalized citizens I’ve encountered.

What reason would a Trump supporter have to shoot at you?

I wouldn’t shoot at you unless you gave me damned good reason…. Just saying. :man_shrugging:

Not every person like you and me is not violent.
What I meant was that we cannot say “oh all that leftist are bad” .
There are good people and bad people on both sides… World is not black and white and we don’t live in 0/1 System.

Anyway… That’s enough… We went too far away from the main topic… :grimacing:

Without getting into to much detail, the short answer is this. Body armor is designed for specific threats, which varies based on the different levels you can purchase. Soft ballistic armor (like Kevlar) are designed to catch and spread out the fast energy of a bullet. However, a knife concentrates the same (or less) force into a tiny point/edge and slices or pushes between the different fibers. Basically, what this means is different physics equal different failure modes. This is not to say that body armor will not stop a slashing type attack which is different than a stabbing/piercing type attack.

If you wanted to protect yourself from knives or knife type attacks, then you would be better off finding a type of chain or ring mail.

If your primary concern is obtaining body armor that is specifically stab-proof, you may find the available options somewhat limited. Most products on the market are more accurately classified as stab-resistant and typically utilize laminate-style materials or specialized panels. For example, the vest Don referenced appears to provide protection against slashes and blunt strikes, though it may not offer full stab protection (unless there is another model on the website that I may have missed).

A practical way to approach this issue is by thinking in terms of layering**,** similar to how medieval armor was constructed, or even how modern survival gear is designed for cold climates. In this case, one could wear a stab-resistant layer beneath a ballistic vest to enhance overall protection.

Magic potions and hexes do exist. Just ask my Witch of a Wife. I’ve seen it. They work.
