@Mike164 I thought it had been flagged.
Edit: not this one

The new law eliminates the “duty to retreat” and allows the use of deadly force to prevent a violent felony in public or any other place a person is legally permitted to be. BISMARCK — North Dakota Gov.

Not to split hairs, but the article states: “Missouri is a so-called “stand your ground” state.” That may be all well and good, but the incident seems to rather fall under a “castle doctrine” scenario.

The castle doctrine only applies in the home while the standard ground applies anywhere, including your home. That and $6.88 will get you a coffee and croissant at Starbucks.

California doesn’t have a specific “Stand Your Ground” law, but individuals can defend themselves without retreating if they reasonably believe they are in imminent danger. Under the “Castle Doctrine” (Penal Code 198.5), there is no duty to retreat when an intruder unlawfully enters a home and there is a belief of imminent danger of death or great bodily injury.

Welcome to the community. Thanks for sharing. I live in Nevada we have stand your ground. Even if we had Castle doctrine, I wouldn’t take a life to save property.

How would this scenario play out in the state of Kansas?

Welcome to the community. That is a good question for AI. You’re the same as Nevada

As usual, the email version has more details.
One key takeaway:
“It’s inferable that the defender had training since he called 911 and stayed at the scene to point out the intruder and evidence of the break in.”

This definitely fits the definition of paranoid. Sounds excessive and potentially dangerous to you or others in your home (not just intruders). You will never be able to plan for every scenario.
How about multiple cameras and video screens with alarms around the house?

Yeah but what good will the multiple cameras and video screens with alarms around the house do if one doesn’t have a gun in every room. My point is I don’t think one can be overly protective if they feel comfortable with it.

“What are you afraid of?”

Proper answer is, “nothing. I’m prepared so what should I be afraid of?”

It’s not paranoia.

No offense intended. Everyone has a different idea of being prepared.
Be safe.

My Gf asked me why I carry my gun in the house
. I replied

“Transformers”

She laughed, I laughed, the toaster laughed

I shot the toaster.
