I realized it’s easier to deal with a 70-lb labrabull than a fish tank.

You’re not entirely wrong.
If it’s done right though, a fish thank can become its own ecosystem and all you have to do is an occasional water change and maybe drop some treat food in!
Live plants feed on the fish/shrimp waste, shrimp eat the plants, fish eat the baby shrimp,…. Circle of life thing! 
And I have clams in there too, they help keep the water crystal clear.
Planning on adding koi swordtail fish, they’re live bearers, so there will be even more fry for the bigger fish to eat!
