Indeed! Firearms and Ammo are Tax Exempt again September 1 till the end of the year!
So, if you have been holding off replenishing your ammo, or just need a new EDC, hunting rifle, shotgun, whatever, now is a good time to at least save the taxes.
Except that I have lived over a mile high since I was one year old (ish)
Which means I can’t stand air you can physically cut with a knife, and mosquitoes are supposed to be nothing more than a nuisance,…. When they start carrying away children and small pets,…. Just not my thing
Yes, in Florida you’re prey for some animals. But so are you in Alaska and a quite a few other states with big toothy furry animals that have giant claws. At least here, if you don’t hang out along pond shorelines you’re totally safe.
Yes, we have mosquitos, but here’s what no one is going to believe. They were way worse in NY state. All summer long, there were more of them and they were more aggressive. No joke. I honestly spend a lot of time outside and mosquitos are not an issue to me. Go to my brother’s hunting camp in the summer in WNY, and you’ll get eaten alive in those woods.
Now, admittedly, we do have Florida Man, and he’s an unpredictable, dangerous creature
Pretty true statement, however, I was aggressively bit by a squirrel in my back yard yesterday!
In the squirrel’s defense, my dog had gotten hold of it and violently shook it so hard he had lost control of his rear legs. I got my dog in the house, pulled on a pair of gloves and moved the squirrel to a shady spot in the side yard. That’s when he bit me, thank goodness I had the gloves on because it still hurt!
I gave him a shallow bowl of water. I didn’t expect him to make it, but 15 minutes later he had his rear legs under him. Another 15 minutes and he was gone!
Political reason, id love FL. If it wasn’t for the pesky weather and critters.
Sure beats the hell out of MI.
I loved AK for its weather and politics in 90’s and 2000’s. Now statewide is starting to turn blue. I can deal with the critters up there, no gators or snakes
I shot a squirrel with a .117 caliber pellet rifle, (pest hunting) solid hit complete pass through both lungs.
Little bastard ran to the top of the tree, I could see blood foaming out of both sides of its chest…. Figured it would drop in a few minutes. (Couldn’t take a follow up shot, no clear line of sight)
Nope, an hour or so later it scrambled to the bottom of the tree and booked ass into the brush!
I shot a squirrel that was destroying our attic insulation when I was a kid. I was a good shot and gave it a “sporting” chance as it was running, stopping, and jumping through the tops of the trees. I shot it with my pellet rifle and it fell into the crook of a high branch. It was not moving, but to ensure it did not suffer, I plugged two shots into its head and three more into its chest. It did not move with any of those hits and remained in the crook of the tree. That was the last of five that I had to kill. The others all fell to the ground so I was able to confirm kills.
I did not like doing that, as I did not find it “sporting” - too easy - but my father told me I had to. I was not interested in hunting as a kid. I was a very good shot, and did not believe killing animals was “sporting” nor “fun”. I used to shoot hickory nuts off the trees by shooting the stems with a 0.20 caliber pellet rifle weak-hand. Shooting a target as large as squirrel while it was jumping tree-to-tree was not a challenge.
My older brother liked duck hunting and doubted my skill, so he created a moving target that he manipulated. After plugging 5 for 5, he gave-up. Later in my teens when video games became popular, that skill transfered to the shooting games.
