EDC Revolver- as I get older, starting to make sense

I often carry an S&W J frame for 2 reasons.

First, the J frame is very small and simple to conceal. I especially like it during the summer, when you don’t wear a lot of Bulky clothing.

Second, as I get older, it gets more difficult to load my magazines to 100%. The old fingers just don’t work as well as they did 40 years ago. Revolvers, while not having the capacity of a semiautomatic pistol, are not difficult to load or reload. Speed loaders are available if desired.

Uplula is one of my best friends :+1:

While some brand new firearms come with their own loader, Uplula is a wise investment.

Thank you all for these very thoughtful replies! I get it now! It makes sense. I currently carry a Ruger LC380, and have been contemplating upgrading to a 9mm, but now I’ll start seriously looking into revolvers as well.

If you want to stay brand loyal, check out the Ruger LCR. It comes in various calibers, even 9mm.

Did you say 9mm? May I present to you… the Ruger Blackhawk.

@Roger172 and then, there’s single action vs. double action.

My experience with small revolvers .357 is that they are harsh as hell to shoot.

Agreed. That’s why the Ruger LCR .357 is better suited with .38 ammo.

AND! The most important factor in carrying a Revolver?——- They are sexy as He11 ! (actually, I’m not kidding)

Plastic guns are great, but nothing looks better than a shiny revolver with beautiful grips in a good leather holster!

Stainless, not blued

Even with my Tupperware, I prefer duotone.

Right on Bruh! As Tim Allen always say’s ‘Argh! Argh! Argh!’ The sight of a BIG shiny Revolver (Blue steel , Stainless or chrome) is incredibly sexy. A good looking Holster Kydex or Leather finishes the job. I saw one of the Cops admiring my SDR yesterday and then he finally asked ‘Can I see your Gun?’

NOPE! So Sorry. (short and sweet) No malice or joking around—The LAST thing I’m going to do is hand over (voluntarily) my Side arm. I ‘use’ to be so open, so go along to get along , so…. agreeable perhaps, You ask me to jump and I would say ‘how high? ’ Total respect is still given to LEO’s but then a wall comes down over my eyes like the Shutters of a store front. I’ve always said ‘I LOVE COPS’ still do. But TRUST is earned and that trust has been eroded of late.

Don’t get me wrong I love all Guns, I have no favorite in either Revolver or Semi-. Cleaned and Ready to go they will all perform but I’m secure in the fact the Revolver won’t Jam (and all the other Plus Pluses @Joseph488 mentioned!.

@Buddha-In-The-Sun My setup, as a female who sleeps very sound, is a point and shoot .357 Ruger within arms reach in case of middle of the night. Along with a bat, a knife and fire extinguisher. Surely one of those choices will give me a fighting chance. I’m kinda dumb when I am awakened fast. For EDC (which I am not consistent with to be honest) and when I am at home awake the 9mm is nearby, Should I have to retreat to another room and am able to get safe open the 12 ga is coming out. I would rather have 12 ga first but grabbing a revolver will be much easier for me in a sleep induced daze.

I keep everything locked up when I am gone because in my area most break-ins happen when no one is at home. And they are quick. Sad world we live in and it’s only gonna get worse.
