So the death toll in Iran stands at 13, hopefully it stays at that number. Meanwhile 28 killed in Chicago last weekend and no one complains about that, how sad.

The 28 were mainly people of color and not in uniform. No one cares about them; human life is meaningless unless you are white or wear a uniform. If you are both, well, you make the front page.

He did not mean the whole country, just Chicago. The 13 were not killed in Iran. They were killed in Kuwait and Iraq. In Kuwait there are 30,500 Americans, and in Iraq there are 2,500. That we are told about. In Chicago there are 2.4 million Americans. In Chicago, 0.001166666667% Americans were killed. In Kuwait, 0.196721311% of Americans there were killed. In Iran, 0.28% of the Americans there were killed.

@General_Consensus Forgive me for chiming in. I don’t think anyone thinks human life is meaningless. IMO, I think it has become so common place that we all have turned a deaf ear. Plus we don’t hear about all of the weekend and/or city shootings unless we live nearby or if it was significant. I didn’t know about the 28 in Chicago until Fred posted this thread but all news sources have had the soldiers on full blast.
I did find a good website called Gun Violence Archive The menu at the top lets you see the last 72 hours plus a lot of other info like numbers and link to local articles. And a CNN article has a database that you can click through here: Mass shooting fast facts
It is so sad that people have become so desensitized, but what do you do about it? I know in my county most of them are out of jail (if they are caught) within 24 hrs. then a slap on the wrist and another charge to their already long rap sheet. I think one of the problems is the court system but most of it starts with no home raising.
I have to go into a larger city tomorrow and drive right by a place where there are several shootings a week. Passersby are usually the victims. 
Lordy I could go on and on with this topic but I will stop with that.

Every loss of life is tragic no matter where it happens. Comparing different tragedies does not really help both situations deserve attention and concern. We should care about all victims, not turn it into a competition.

I completely agree; I have posted about this before. I was just bluntly pointing out the reality of the situation.
The system isn’t working for anyone involved other than the private investment groups getting rich off housing people. As stated before, we have more people in jail than any other Western country. We need a culture change here to address the systemic problems. For one, we need to get the people with mental issues out of this system and act more like human beings when dealing with them.

That hardly seems accurate as most coverage of deaths in America seems to be when a white person kills a black person, not the other way around and not black on black.

He specifically mentioned Chicago, so I utilized the stats he was referring to, not those of the country. Sorry if there was any confusion.
I did do a quick search on numbers; Black people still lead the category, with Whites not far behind. With 54% to 42% in what I read.
Not sure if the death toll is just 13, the pilot rescue mission is not adding up. You don’t land two C-130 full of troops to rescue 1 person when a Black Hawk would have been sufficient.
It does add up because they were carrying MH-6s, which is what was used to extract the aviator from the mountain.

Exactly. It is what I was pointing out right there? It is why I break down the numbers for people. Now the difference is that it is just one weekend in Chicago, and the other number is overall as far as we are told. I just wanted to give perspective to how many people are in harm’s way over there and that they are dying for no clear objective at this time. His son looks like he will be worse than he was at this point, plus you killed his father. Just think of what you would do to someone or a country that did this to you.
I do not believe this was a good regime change. With no clear objective as to who we want in power at this point, all you have done is kick the proverbial beehive.
We had a clear objective…no nukes and no weapons that could deliver said weapons. Cool, we accomplished that…I hope.
As for regime change, no one knows how that will work out. New guy in charge is a Biden wannabe.
I say just bomb the hell out of them, open the strait and let the Iranians take over there own country.
